Heybridge Postponement - the real reason ?!?!?!

Recommended Posts

Since the message on K's Web was posted at 4.13pm on Wednesday Jan 9, I would imagine that it can only refer to Harding's efforts to call off the game earlier in the week (for reasons best known to himself)after it had been arranged between the two clubs the previous week. Indeed, details of the rearranged game were posted on the Heybridge Website on Thursday Jan 3.
My understanding is that, for some unexplained reason, late Tuesday Jan 8/early Wednesday Jan 9 Harding suddenly did a U-turn and the game was back on again, only for the Ryman League to order the game to be called off late afternoon on the next day, Thursday Jan 10. No doubt we will be informed of the reasons for this in due course.

I think you'll find the only person that found it 'inconvenient' was the Majority Shareholder aka Tractor Boy. That was the first postponement. Then miraculously the game was back on again on Thursday only to be called off that night by the Ryman League committee, reasons to published on this web site sometime soon. The nation awaits with bated breath....
[sorry, Nostradamus, wrote this before reading your reply, doh!!]
[ 12 January 2002: This message was edited by: Rob the Saint ]

The following article appears on page 4 of this Sunday's Non-League Paper.
RYMAN LEAGUE THREATENS SAINTS WITH EXPULSION
St.Albans City must find a new backer this week - or face expulsion from the Ryman League.
Lee Harding, City's majority shareholder, has failed to give assurances that league commitments can be met - and the club is struggling to pay its creditors.
League Secretary Nick Robinson said: " The management committee has decided that the club has until noon on Wednesday to find a new buyer or we will suspend St.Albans from playing in any Ryman League matches.
A new buyer must be in place by the deadline and all the football creditors paid in full. I have spoken with Mr Harding and notified him of the committee's decision."
Meanwhile the Football Assocition has fined St.Albans £500 for failing to pay UniBond League Hucknall compensation for striker Simon Martin. An FA tribunal valued the striker at £5,000 - a figure the Saints still have to pay in addition to the fine.

This is just getting ridiculous! Will someone please help us! Along with every other St.Albans fan Im sure, I say that we want to play in the Ryman League and of we lose that it would be so sad for the City as a whole and non-league football. Isnt Wednesday a bit short notice?!
I cant believe one man can get a club into so much trouble!

From Ryman League site:
Midweek deadline for St Albans City
The Ryman League Management Committee heard on Thursday 10th that direction had been given by the Court on Tuesday 8th which could lead to the club being wound up on the 20th February. The Committee decided that they would give the club until 12 Noon next Wednesday 16th January to find a purchaser which could meet the criteria set by the Committee previously. In default the club will be suspended from the League until a purchaser is found or the club is wound up by the court. As a result of this the Club was not allowed to bring forward a match from April to last Saturday and if the club is suspended then it will not play any more matches until the suspension is lifted or the club is wound up.
