re the cars, this is the same for any club, there is a requirement by the local concils to encourage people to use public transport - simple.

I thought local councils and government were already doing more than enough to pursuade (blackmail) people out of their cars. What with vast amounts of speedhumps/traffic calming builds.Flooding local areas with traffic wardens.Red Kennith swamping our roads with half empy buses.Overcrowding cities and as a result the road sytsem..Charging 78% tax on fuel ,and shafting people for road tax (of which only 20-odd percent actually goes into maintaining roads).

Do we really need the added interference of local councils telling clubs to ask fans to use public transport as well?

If the Enfield FC directors contact the Gazette and apologise in advance for the air horn from Enfield FC fans then the objectionable neighbours can focus their objections in writing to the Council and Gazette about EFC and it is no going to effect Enfield Town FC's stadium aspirations within the borough!

I'd wager this decision is done more to quieten our support and give you home advantage, than for any consideration for your neighbours. Or is it club policy to put the neighbours ahead of your own fans?

I'm sure an early goal from rudi will quieten your support just like he did at ware(side).

OK, I might buy the evening games = no air horns, trumpets etc (only just mind), but come on 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, behave.
If people really are complaining not only are they extremley sad with obviously very little in their lives to do but what I would like to know is how they cope with a fuction in the Downs bar at 11pm on a Saturday night & all the local pi$$ heads turning out!
What a load of bo**ocks, and a perfect example of what is wrong with society today!

You obviously do not understand the legality of ETFC staging a Game at Brimmo do you Gazza?

I think he does!!! Gazza thank you for your comments sounds like you have brain in your head unlike some!!!
Sounds like a most of you over there do what your told and when your told and if you talk you against it you get shot down.

Most people on this message board dont see the problem with it, nor do I. As for saying sorry for enjoying myself at a game, well you can just sod off with that idea!! do you think the Wednesday fans say sorry for there band before every game they play??? Dont think so!!

to end the talk I am, horn will be bringing our horns and if IM thrown out then so be it, as I will not be dictated to as to what I can do at a football ground that IS within reason(well every club apart from yours anyway)!!!

I think you miss the point as well "Big Bad". The reason we put the posting on this forum in the first place was to make you aware of our Ground Safety Rules at Goldsdown Road. We have an awful lot of problems with the Residents here as it is on ETFC Matchdays & do not want to make it any worse. The problems that Brimmo have with people leaving the "Downs Bar" or even B.S.S.C late at night has nothing to do with ETFC.

All we are concerned about is ETFC Matchdays, and
trying to make that as acceptable as possible to the local residents.

I am sure that is what you at EFC would do in the smae situation.

If you dont like the ground rules you dont have to visit our ground and yes when WE host a game there it is OUR ground.

Seems to me that you are just preparing your excuses in advance "we lost because the nasty people in the borough wouldnt let us be the only visitors to the borough to bring in air horns"

No SL cant say I do and have never claimed too, my point is I & 99% of others cant believe the pettyness of it all, I would be astounded if ETFC have agreed to adhere to some form of legal term like:

"no air horns to be sounded during a match"

If we have then as the invisible man says what next rubber soled shoes?, no singing?, no clapping?

Would not want Dave's job as he must be the most patient guy in the borough, if thats what he has to put up with, its ridiculous.

Who do these people think they are dictating to others, how, no why do we let them get away with it?
We are talking of 21 x 90 mins & any cup games if drawn at home, how pathetic!

I can't really see that air horns are a safety issue.

I would argue that it is implicitly permissible in law, as there are planning consents for the playing of senior football (don't forget it was there long before us, we only put a fence round it) with paying spectators, and crowd noise including artificial aids is a known and inseperable part of that activity. Obviously there are limits and with English law the final test is what is "reasonable". I would argue that the intermittent use of an air horn or similar audible device for 90 minutes on alternate Saturdays is likely to be construed as reasonable. In fact it is less than that as no-one else has brought one as far as I am aware. Probably it would be unreasonable to keep your finger on the button for 90 minutes solid.

Conversely it is probably unreasonable (in planning law) to object to or require the cessation of all noise in connection with a lawful activity. The law recognises vexatious or frivalous litigants and objections.

None of which of course means that any club should not act in a reasonable and considerate manner to the best of its ability. It works both ways though, we are their neighbours as much as they are ours.
