Enfield 2-3 Harlow Town

Enfield went down narrowly against a determined side today. The Teams Enfield 1 Steve Wright 2 Gbenga Sonuga 3 Michael Spencer 4 Nick Turner 5 Kevin Kilroy 6 Paul Oshin 7 Curtis Johnson 8 Lee allinson 9 Rob McHale 10 Danny Gabriel 11 Sherwin Stanley.subs 12 Ryan Hall 14 Mark Whittington 15Grant Osborn 16 Leon Rolle GK Paul Daley.

Harlow 1 Jason Hardy 2 Mark Taylor 3 Kevin Warren 4 Danny Chapman 5 Ryan Kirby 6 Lee Miles 7 Leon Lalite 8 Gary Wraight 9 Danny Boateng 10 Greg Williams 11 Marc Salmon .subs12 Neil Moore 14 Kenny Davis 15 Michael Gliddon.

Not a single attempt on goal from either side in the first 17 mins until Harlow went in front, Leon Lalite's freekick rebounded out to Mark Taylor who drilled into the bottom corner from the edge of the box . Enfield replied almost Immediately on 19 mins from new signing Rob McHale ,Sherwin Stanley's corner was met by curtis Johnson and the ball fell very kindly for Rob and he lashed it past Jason Hardy 1-1 . An odd decision by referee Mr Mcpherson a Harlow player heads behind his goal and a goal kick awarded !!!
A foul by sonuga and Lalite's free kick well over E's bar. Then on 33 mins a poor piece of play by sonuga allowed Ex E Marc Salmon to rob him of the ball and with other E's players caught out of position Salmon ran diagonally across the box to calmly stroke his shot past steve wright 1-2. A near fatal mix up between Nick Turner and Gbenga Sonuga almost presented Danny Boateng with a 1 on 1 but steve wright raced quickly off his line to gather at Boateng's feet. In the 2nd half an early scare as sonuga missed the ball and Boateng shot across the face of goal (He should have done better). At the other end a good lay off from Rob McHale and Curtis Johnson fired well wide of the target. Harlow pressed forward and a smart run and 20 yard shot from Salmon crashed against E's crossbar on 54 mins, Nick Turner was then Disposessed and Steve Wright saved well from Boateng . A telling substitution as Mark Whittington replaced Nick Turner . And then Mark Whittington brings down Salmon and a penalty is awarded to Harlow. Mark Taylor converts although a slice of luck as the ball goes in off the underside of the crossbar 1-3 . On 70mns a long ranger from Michael Spencer was well over the bar. Osborn on for McHale & Hall on for stanley 75 mins .On 76 mins Kilroy's free kick was blocked by the harlow wall , But this brief spell of E's pressure was rewarded on 82 mins as Michael Spencer was bought down by Michael Gliddon just outside the box and Kevin Kilroy sent in a screamer into Hardy's top corner 2-3 . On 88 mins Ryan Hall shoots narrowly off target and in stoppage time Curtis Johnson headed a half chance wide. Att 122

Some of our boys were just not focussed today perhaps next weeks match at Brimsdown is on their minds.

Yes our performance was very disappointing but it was no where near as bad as the Wildman days. During those times I was worried about the clubs future at this level of football. I was also ashamed at times (GWR away in particular) to wear an E's shirt.

Yes we've had two bad results but I'm still proud of our achievements in 2006- thanks to KL and KH, and the ongoing support from us fans.

I agree with you BB when you said we need to step up our game for the town match. Maybe the fact we are playing town might spur the lads on to Victory?

The last two games have seen us particularly quiet behind the goal. Maybe we should step up our game too? (a la Uxbridge & Wingate away)We don't want to be classed as fans who 'only sing when we're winning' do we?

I've already started on the Hymn sheets!
