I think Jeff is a control freak, he knows that even laughs about it, we are the recipients of that and have to accept it. Up to now that is. I really hope that we can be in control from now on and choose the team WE want and go forward and win. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/afro.gif" alt="" />

I dont usually agree with Non League paper but it sounds about right this time. How are we supposed to get better coverage of our games and get more supporters like Jeff claimed was the problem, when he bans the people from the number one non-league media paper. Newspapers always get on managers nerves but you dont see them BANNING them, do ya? Absolutely absurd. If people wanted this club to move forward like they have always said, then they cant behave in a 'backwater out of the way town' manner towards the media with the attitude of 'we dont like you round here' 'leave us alone to do it our way'. It doesn't work like that and shouldn't.

Sorry, but the more i find out about what is going on around here, the more angry i'm becoming with the way this club handles things.

Me too Chalky. I have not heard so many negative comments from genuine supporters as I did yesterday. Perhaps in the past we have turned a blind eye and kept it to ourselves because we were so successfull. I do believe it is all about control, so with our new Trust we can control matters and pull together and run this club for good of the supporters and the players.

I can't deny that Jeff King has not been instrumental in taking this club to it's highest ever position.

I cannot deny that Jeff, along with Glenn, are an extremly good management team and their knowledge of the local non league game is second to none.

I cannot deny that Jeff is a very able businessman in his own right and has probably spent large amounts on the club.

However, Jeff has gained a hell of a lot from Canvey Island football club and it's fans.

The King brand has been broadcast, even televised, on numerous occassions during the FA Trophy, it's promotion races and cup games against league opposition. How many people now know or are aware of the "King" brand? - this wouldn't have been the case if he had no involvement with football.

In business terms perhaps the King investment doesn't warrant any further involvement as there is little more exposure to gain.

At the end of the day being virtually in sole control of the club means that if he doesn't like it in his capacity as manager or director then it don't happen - and there is little or nothing anyone can do about it. The old website and photo history of the club is a case in question.

We need to make those links again with local busineses, media, website and forums. We need to let people know we are still here and the club will be more open and community based rather than totaliterean.

Ultimately I don't think you can knock Jeff for what he has done but the club has a future to build and those people - even fans - and businesses who didn't want to be involved because of Jeff can now return to the club that perhaps they didn't feel was theirs.

A bit harsh, but probably a contributory factor.

Personally, I think Jeff realises he is up against well qualified, ex-professional players as coaches and knows it will be tough to compete.

There has been growing, although relatively low level, criticism of his management and we know he doesn't like that. Perhaps he thinks we are just all ungrateful and if we don't like what he has done we can lump it.

Whilst, I can understand his frustration, I would say that in running a football team you assume certain community obligations (even if only 500 turn up), a fact that has already been forgotten at the higher levels of the game. Any withdrawal would be better if done gradually to allow the club and the community to adapt.

Oh. Come on, you are joking? Sky aren't interested in anything less than Premiership football. Even what they show of Division 1 (Championshit) is minute. The only Conference football they show is either the 'big' clubs (ie ex-league) or the matches at the top of the table (Grays/Exeter). They'd probably laugh at us if we asked for as much as our goals to be shown.

Sky are the arch-enemy of anyone who cares about football. They've completely ruined every aspect of it in this country and I'd really love to see the company die.
