I plodded along(in my car)with todays walk and witnessed some real hero's today.

They did not only walk 26 miles, some walked as far as 34 miles. Then for an encore they supported their team, banged the drums and out sang Daggers.

There were people walking today with swollen joints and blood running from their feet, one idiot even did it with no socks, Linney did it three times, he danced most of the way (ask him about the cat).

Some were the usual loud crowd laughing and joking as they went, there was also one or two that silently plodded away clocking up the miles for their club and of course, the hero's that organised things!!

I really want to avoid naming names because everyone that went fought their own battle and they all walked(hobbled)away a hero.

All of them are the real supporters of Canvey Island FC that you should be proud of, none of them did it for any reason other than their love of their team. There was not a millionaire who could afford to fund the team for ten years, or even a rich businessman who could rescue the club, amongst them they were local people making a statement.

If the people of Castle Point do not get off their arses and get behind the " Supporters Trust ", then let them live the rest of their lives in the shadow of Southend, Grays, Bowers, Ricay and Basildon, they will not deserve these days of joy and they certainly will not deserve these hero's.

They have led the way, we must now do our bit!!
