Supporters Trust

Recommended Posts

To start with, everybody can make sure that they have filled in the forms which will enable us to collate peoples details. I am hoping to set up a table on Saturday inside the ground to make sure we get as many people who want to be involved to sign up.

When we have officially set up the trust, we can then decide on membership. Donations are of course welcome in the intervening period, but eventually the Supporters Trust will be a membership basis.

It's all about what skills you can bring to Canvey Island FC. There is not one person who cannot offer something to the Trust. The list of skills we will need to make this work is endless.

For example, if we decide to have some leaflets distributed across the Island, we would need:

- People to design the leaflets

- People to print the leaflets

- People to deliver the leaflets

- People to organise the delivery of leaflets

- People to negotiate with local business to display leaflets

- People to explore including the leaflets in newspapers.........

Have you signed the form already Fat Boy Fat? If not, if you (or anyone else that hasn't signed) could PM me the following information I can make sure you are added:

- Name

- Telephone Number

- Email Address

- Are You Interested In Joining?

- What Skills Could You Bring To The Trust?

TGE - something else you could possibly ask for would be the contact details of any lapsed supporters that people are aware of. While not able to regularly attend, or refusing to attend for some reason, it may be that they would be willing to join or support a trust if you got in touch. I believe we've managed to grab a couple of extra members that way.

That is an excellent idea. We all know of people who stopped coming for one reason or another, let's get these people interested again.

We don't want to take information if people don't want us to have it, but if you know someone who used to be a supporter, let them know the situation and see if they would be willing to start supporting us again.

Glen, do you know if once the bank account is setup, donations via PayPal are being considered for those of us who can't physically get down to the ground to put our money in a bucket?

Paypal's doable, (although a bit of a pain to get set up, as I'm finding out at the moment!) To just do an account is no problem at all - works just like a normal individual one. The verification process is a pain for companies (which your Trust as an IPS will be). As such, it's best set up by someone who's able to sign for your bank account once that exists and who has a credit or debit card.

It'll allow you to do electronic sign-ups for membership and things through your website once done as well as use eBay and normal donations.

From reading the PayPal website it would seem that all you need is a PayPal account and an email address linked to the account for fans to donate their money through.

PayPal Techno Babble (You should be logged in to PayPal to view it).

Cambridge City have one here.

Anyone with a PayPal account can make a donation if they have the account's email address. Plus it would help if the Trust's account went through the verification process to remove the receiving and withdrawal limits.

Hope that shed's some light on the subject. Obviously once the bank account is setup we can look into it further.
