I would be amazed if there has been interest from any potential backer let alone one prepared to match the money the King family have put in over the last couple of seasons.

why?if nobody would have been interested in taking on such a high profile club on its promotion to the conference, why would anyone be interested now?
doesnt inspire much hope for the future then, does it?

Well that`s exactly the problem, people like Jeff King do not come along very often! Anyone who thinks it`s just a case of making it known that the club is looking for a sponsor and there will be a que of people lining up are in for a shock.

To stay in the Conference someone would have to continue paying £9kp/w, to compete for honours you would need a full-time football club which costs more, add to that either a new ground or improvements to Park Lane and you can see we are looking for investors with deep pockets.

The way i see it CIFC has only a few real assets, the supporters,a Conference graded ground, a high profile name (in non-league terms) and the club is debt free. Is that enough to tempt someone to invest around £5ook per season?

How do we know that other sponsors were not interested whilst we were high profile? Sponsors may have been interested but they may have been received with open arms. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

We have lost our one and only main sponsor - we assume we need another one to replace it - but in reality I wouldn't care if we attracted ten smaller ones.

We may not attract a single investor to put up £500k per season but there are many non-league clubs who would like just a couple of the assets you mentioned above........

actually i think it would be better to attract ten(or even more) smaller ones.
if the financial load were better spread, then a club would not be thrown in to turmoil if one should pull out.
must say though that my ideal would be a joint venture between a supporters trust and local backers.keeping our feet on the ground as to what is a sensible expectation for the club.

Maybe there are backers out there somewhere waiting to takeover but i think the club will end up having us the supporters supplying the main funding and being realistic we are not going to raise enough money to play Conference (National or South) football.

I feel that the fans will provide the majority of the Club's funds through gate money, but there are plenty of sponsorship openings for a small price.

Man of the Match

Ideally I think we could probably get a lot of small companies to pay for a space around the hoardings. There seem to be a lot of white spaces around the ground over the past couple of seasons, even if we have to sacrifice the quality of the programme too.

That old song "There are more questions than answers" sums up tonights waste of journey meeting, I was hoping to hear some good news or some truth tonight, now feel even more confused, thank goodness that Glen spoke some sense, as for the rest of it, this whole situation stinks, ive said before Kingy has kept this club going for years but has now dumped us in the gutter and now no-one knows what is happening or what to do, that was sure clear tonight.

I wasn't there tonight so don't know all the facts but I am staggered by the news that Jeff won't lease the ground to the club if a Supporters Trust is formed.

Boll*cks to him then. Everybody knows that Park Lane is a sh*t pit so to have to move to Concorde or slightly off the Island surely isn't that a big deal.

Has to be a way around this rather than Jeff leaving for Chelmsford yet STILL controlling the clubs destiny.

I am sure clubs in the area would be happy to groundshare and this is an avenue Canvey should look at and soon. It has to be better to play away from Park Lane without Jeff in the background saying what we can and cannot do rather than remain there and still have him calling the shots albeit in the background.

I know moving to Concord would mean Essex Senior football and absolutely no chance of progressing, but at least we wouldn't be held to ransom and we would be free from that fat piece of sh*t.

At least by moving there we would not have to scrape and beg from that ars*hole.

Jeff, if your reading this and i know that you do. You can have all the money you want, but you will always be a cun* and that is something you can never change, no matter how much you've got in your wallet.

Bring it on dic*head. We will get out of this somehow and leave you with that ground with nothing to gain from it.
