Just about every Canvey supporter I spoke to today did not agree with the team selection for this game, not unusual I suppose. How refreshing was it when Parmenter came on for the second half, it released JK to go wide, Parms was the ball winner in the middle supporting the right and didn't it show, he linked well with JK and Minton. It all rounded off when Breyley replaced Jones, didn't we look industrious at last. What a pity we didn't kick off with that formation at the beginning, it would have been a more entertaining first half thats for sure. Whats the betting that we are back to the original 11 at the start of our next major game!! My opinion is that certainly Jones and Forbes are under achieving, the fact was highlighted this afternoon.

I couldnt agree more Vic,I have been saying it all season what do they see in Matt Jones that the majority of the supportors dont.As far as i am concerned we might as well play with 10 men when he is picked,he is so laid back,shows very little commitment or skill and lacks stamina,it is beyond me how he can be selected and Parms is left sitting on the bench.

I believe a lot of our lack of success this season has been down to team selection ie Why was Danny Potter dropped? as far as i am concerned he hasnt had a bad game all season.

Chris Perkings came in and had a couple of good games then he is dropped.

Lee Protheroe has been in and out of the team and yet has saved our bacon on quite a few occasions.

It seems that with some players no matter how good they play their place is never assured.

I know we have been plagued with injuries this season but sadly i dont think we will win any honours this season because of the lack of consistency in team selection.

I know many of the the fans who contribute to the forum wont accept criticism about the management but i think the time has come to be honest about their shortcomings.

I still dont think after 30 odd games we have started with the same team twice!

With regards to why Danny Potter has been dropped, I believe the only reason is that his wife/fiance/girlfriend has just given birth to his little daughter.

 

I know Merv can confirm this but I think we've only started with the same team twice, once! But not in two consecutive games. I've probably confused you now so I'll hand over to Merv...

We've only played an unchanged 11 once in successive league games; we fielded the same players against Aylesbury and Hendon on 7th and 10th September. This was the team that put six past Aylesbury and then four past Hendon.

CONFUSED. Whether most of these comments come from people who see the game but do not know the full story,or just by people that don't realise that matt jones is being asked to play out of position.Matt jones is a left winger playing a wing back role, and in my opinion has not put a foot wrong. Unfortunately our recent sucess has attracted arm chair fergusons who basically spout without all the facts. You know who you are and if you cannot be constructive and/or informative and/or supportive then stay away. WE DO NOT NEED YOU!

How ridiculous to suggest this forum should only be used for constructive/informative/supportive comments only.Surely the purpose of the forum is for the fans to air their views whether criticising or praising and having the right to free speech,i see no point in having it if people cannot air their views whether you agree with them or not.Surely the purpose of the forum is to instigate healthy debate about the club and not for everyone to be condescending.

I am not an armchair Ferguson as you put it,i attend every game home and away and have done for many years i am passionate about the club and when i pay my admission fee i expect to be entertained by a team that consists of players with flair and skill and more importantly the same passion that i have for the club.

Sadly i dont see that with certain players currently at the club,that is my opinion and i feel i have a right to say it.

Finally i totally disagree with your comments on Matt Jones but you have every right to make them,thats what this forum is all about!

PS just as a matter of interest as far as I know there is only one wing-back in the squad that being JK (all the others are FBs.CHs or m-d-fielders)

I go along with most of what Basil-don has said, I go to just about every game and have done for many years, I am entitled to my opinion just as Tackle1000 has had hes say and is entitled to it, I will say though that your opinion in saying that WE DONT NEED YOU is out of order and could be taken further but I will say this CIFC needs every passionate supporter it can get and thats a FULL STOP.

so far this season potter has been much better than ash..

benno shud NOT play in a back three unless we are desperate, but has impressed this season in midfield showing some real commitment..

minton is showing his class now..

duffers will be back to his best soon..

 

can parms take over from tilly, is he the midfield man we have been missing?

Thing is though Canv - Millsy hasn't been doing it too good for Grays either. I think he lost his way at the later part of last term and it continued into this, it was never going to work for him with us whilst Stimmo was at Grays.

Make you right about Potter and I have been saying all along that we have missed Parms, he certainly made a difference on Saturday as far as I could see.
