no Bent or wright-phillips. and bloody Wallcott. also scott carson and downing on the backup.

crouch is the closest thing we have to a fit striker in the main squad.

Provisional squad:

Robinson (Tottenham), James (Manchester City), Green (Norwich); G Neville (Manchester United), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Terry (Chelsea), Cole (Arsenal), Campbell (Arsenal), Carragher (Liverpool), Bridge (Chelsea), Beckham (Real Madrid), Carrick (Tottenham), Lampard (Chelsea), Gerrard (Liverpool), Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Jenas (Tottenham), Downing (Middlesbrough), J Cole (Chelsea), Lennon (Tottenham), Rooney (Manchester United), Owen (Newcastle), Crouch (Liverpool), Walcott (Arsenal).

Standby:

Scott Carson (Liverpool), Luke Young (Charlton), Nigel Reo-Coker (West Ham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Andy Johnson (Crystal Palace).

What a joke. They pay that bloke £5 million a season for crap like this.

Bent should be going - what has Sven learned about him in one game where he was substituted?

Bloke scored 16 goals for Charlton last season.

Walcott has not even played a 1st team game for Arsenal so is going from the reserves to the World Cup.

Campbell in? Ledley out? Shall I go on.

Win the World Cup, I don't think so.

King is injured and was never going to make it, but Walcott, Johnson and Carson shouldnt be on the list. i Lenon but there is no way he is better than Wright-Phillips and Bent is the top English scorer in the premiership (plus the once chance he had he was out of position)

I think Sven is too influenced by the press. He is almost forced by them to play people he doesn't rate, like Bent and Andy Johnson and then his way of dealing with this is that he plays them out of position in the farces they now call international friendlies, where they fail to shine and Sven then consigns them to the ranks of "tried but not good enough" - never to play again.

Sven is a joke and I can't wait to see the back of him.

In the unlikely event of England winning the World Cup it would be in spite of Sven and not because of him.

dont get me wrong i think Walcott is going to be an amazing player but im not sure you can have an england player that has never played in the premiership or on the big stage at all. obviously if he turns out to be amazing i always thought he was the right choice

I disagree that Svens ballsing anything up. I'm disappointed that Bent isn't in the squad, but on the other hand, Sven has never been so adventurous in his selection. Walcott clearly has talent, as does Lennon, putting those two in may well bring new excitement to our squad and could change the whole face of it come August, when McLaren has his first match.

Finally, after five years, Sven isn't worried about the media (otherwise he wouldn't of dropped Defoe and Wright-Phillips and not picked Bent). He knows he has nothing to loose, so finally we might get to see part of what Sven really wanted to show us through these years.

For the record, I agree with Wright-Phillips being dropped, but I like Defoe and Bent should have gone just because of his goals.

Also; Johnson was never an option and shouldn't be until about ten others can't make it.

Defoe should be in the squad. I would definitely have Darren Bent in there somewhere as well. As for standby striker what about giving Marlon Harewood a go?
