There are a couple of ex-Gulls still floating around elsewhere.

Ash Harrison - GWR
Paul Cobb - Tilbury
Sammy Cooper - East Thurrock
Wayne Vaughan - Barking
Spencer Knight - Unattatched

Craig Davidson, Michael Lee, Kevin Dobinson, even Jeff Brazier!

Thought Wayne Vaughan was a superb player when he was here, God knows why he ended up at Barking, would love to see him come back

He received a serious leg injury while he was at Grays. He wasn't quite the same after. Could probably still do well for our level though. I have no idea what his stats at Barking are like.

I wonder if his entourage are willing to forgive and forget?

Here you go, Vaughan had to have reconstructive surgery on his knee. He sued the Harrow player that tackled him - Link

Vaughan is quite successful at Barking. Whenever i read how Barking are doing, he has either scored a goal or its been mentioned that he was involved in a near chance.

Would be a great move to get him back here.

Eggy,

you said two players from that list were almost in the bag? Would you care to elaborate? Is Ash one of them?

Just hope on of the players isn't Paul Cobb. He was useless when he played for us.
At the start of 2001-02 season we signed two new strikers. One was Paul Cobb a proven goalscorer from Dagenham who was going score 50 goals a season and propel us to the Conference. The other striker we signed was someone called Lee Boylan who came with little or no reputation. Funny how things turn out.

Does Dobbo still play? I don't ever recall him joining anyone after we released him. His back injury kept him out for the majority of the season anyway!

As for Cobby, he was blind as a bat, but I bet if someone fed him he'd still put a few away.

I think Dobbo was told he had to quit by the specialist.

Speaking of Cobby, he's just been named Tilbury's POTY!

Cobby scored a hatful of goals for Tilbury in the ESL last season. Hope he doesn't come back to haunt us.

I thought Cobby did well for us actually.

He was more used to long ball style deliveries from Dagenham and found that when he came to Canvey, we were playing the ball through the midfield.

It was at a time when we had just won the Trophy and thought we could walk the ball into the net and so Cobby just wasn't used to that sort of game.

He still scored his fair share of goals for us and would definately do a great job for us at the level we are playing at now. The only problem would be his age because it makes no sense buying someone well into his thirties.
