How does the SSML Prem compare to other step 5 leagues?

Recommended Posts

How do you think this league compares with say the CCL or the Hellinic? Are they all pretty much simallar, or is one league stronger?

Judging by last season's FA Vase results, you would have to say that the SSML fared very well, in having Hillingdon Boro make the final, knocking out Brook House from Isthmian 2.

I'd say the SSML is slightly weaker than the CCL and Hellenic but there's not much in it, the SSML and the Ryman Division 2 for example were virtually identical in standard and Edgware Town, Hertford Town, Kingsbury and Chalfont St Peter probably won't know the difference. It'll be interesting to see how Hillingdon Borough and Hanwell Town do next season in the Southern League Division 1 as they had been in the SSML for donkeys years and may well struggle.

I think the southern league is slightly stronger then the Isthmian league, so I would imagine that div 1 of the southern could be tough.

You could be right, Edgware and the other clubs moved from ryman 2 may think this is going to be a little easier, but I am sure that the clubs who were in the SSML prem last season will be out to show us new boy's that its not going to be just a walk in the park.

Yes the Southern League Division 1 is a cut above and most of the grounds are probably better maintained than the Ryman Division 1 grounds, Oxford City is something else. As I've said it will be interesting to see how Hillingdon Borough and Hanwell Town do next season and I wouldn't mind betting they'll both struggle although having said that Hillingdon will have made a lot of dosh from their Vase run last season and will be able to afford to pay some decent players.
