The pitch was not a contributory factor to Jason's injury. No one at Southend, including Mr Tilson, was able to shed any light as to the origins of the Echo's piece. The club have spent a lot of money on the pitch during the close season and it was fine yesterday.

What was the score anyone?

Heard something about Grays being beaten at Braintree.

Apparently the only reason Southend played Chelmsford was because Jeff asked Tilson if he would bring his team and use the game for Wardys Testimonial..!

But then Chelmsford realised they would get a decent gate which would make them good money so they changed there minds which apparently left Tilson pissed off as he wouldn't have played Chelmsford becuase he knew the condition of the pitch would be poor, Tilson waas doing it because he played with Wardy for a good few years at the mighty Gulls..

Im pissed of that Wardys testimonial could have been played at Chelmsford, surly we should demand that something is organised at Park Lane for one of our all time legends..

I feel sorry for Jason, he should have signed for Stevenage and played on a much better surface and stadium..

the pitch is in great condition at chelmsford and was not the reason for jasons injury.

lots of chelmsford supporters all have said how good the pitch is looking and how much better it is than last year. my dad has only had 6 weeks to work on it instead of the 12 weeks he had pre-season at canvey.

the pitch was in such a bad state when he first started working over there you cant really moan if its not up to '1st class' standard.

I know what it means. I think you've totally misinterpreted my post! Do you realise there is wink at the end of my post? I think the term is called sarcasm?
