Does anybody know if we are expecting a good attendance next sat? I'm hoping if i feel up to it, to go to the game, but no Horn yet. I will leave that until the season starts, getting in some pratice against Potters Bar & Bury Town, before being in top form for the bank hoilday mon game. Hope to see some of you at the game, i will decide on friday if i'm okay to go.

Enfield 0 - 2 Cambridge United .

The start was delayed for 16 minutes as cambridge manager Rob Newman was being picky over the pitch for some reason , Grass too long ? (The mind boggles) Or perhaps it was the wrong shade of green.(only he knows)

A good show from enfield today with an experimental side up against a cambridge side that featured several first team players.

An early opening for cambridge with Dave Bridges being superbly robbed of the ball by Wes Borghys ,At the other end Marlon Stuart had a half chance but his shot was well blocked by Adam Davies . With 11 minutes gone cambridge went ahead ,A harsh free kick was given against Ricky Case the ball was quickly played in to the path of Danny Carey-Bertram who made no mistake in beating steve wright with a firm drive into the bottom corner. A further chance for cambridge and Darren Quinton fired into the side netting.Phil Goss was Injured and replaced by Curtis Johnson. Back came Es with Brett Donnelly being put clear but he lost control when handilly placed . Marlon Stuart then had a chance from louis Lancaster's freekick but his attempted scoop over Shane Herbert was well taken by the cambridge keeper. A flare up between Donnelly and Davies had them both lectured by referee Mr Evetts. A brilliant run and cross by Owen Beale was missed by several players and a cambridge half clearence fell to Curtis Johnson whose powerful shot was well blocked. A point blank save by Steve Wright kept out Adam Davies's header and just before the break Ricky case shot agonisingly wide with Herbert well beaten. The second half started with Brett Donnelly getting a good effort away but a fine stop by Herbert denied him.Es Sam Judge slipped a perfecly weighted ball through to Owen Beale but a cambridge boot just managed to clear away the danger. Both teams seemed intent on cancelling each other out for a long period but that changed when Mark Whittington took down cambridge striker Courtney pitt and
the resulting freekick was headed home by Mike Gash on 80 minutes. Es Richard Johnson was put clear by Curtis Johnson but Sub Keeper Jamie Waite blocked low to his left. Robbie Simpson then headed inches over the Es bar and the same player shot just wide soonafter. With 5 minutes left Wes Borghys freekick was headed over waite by curtis Johnson but the ball was scrambled off the line ,The last chance fell to Es with Danny Murphy shooting just over the cambridge crossbar in the dying moments.

Enfield 1 Steve Wright (1st half)13 Paul Daley (second half) 2 Louis Lancaster 3 Mark Whittington 4 Gbenga Sonuga,5 Wes Borghys 6 Ricky Case 7 Danny Murphy 8 Owen Beale 9 Brett Donnelly 10 Phil Goss 11 Marlon Stuart 12 Michael Marvin 14 Chris Parillion 15 Curtis Johnson 16 Dwayne Nicholl 17 Sam Judge 18 Richard Johnson.

Cambridge united GK Shane Herbert ,Steve smith,Adam Davies, Matt Bloomer,Chris Gordon,Darren Quinton,Dave Bridges, Craig Bussens,Mick Quinns , Danny Courtney-Bertram,Mike Gash ,Subs Jordan Collins ,Andy Hughes, Jamie Waite,Courtney Pitt,Josh Simpson, Rob Wooleaston,

All of last seasons Enfield squad have returned to the club except Michael Spencer who is in the united states at University. Paul Oshin ,Kevin Kilroy,Nick Turner,Sherwin Stanley , Are still on Holiday as are one or two of the new signings that have yet to feature for Enfield.
I was asked why the Blyth match was cancelled the reason was a Sponsor offered to pay the travel and Hotel expences but for some reason had a change of heart. The board decided that the expence was too great to justify for a friendly.

The Cambridge website says he was delayed in traffic and had the kit with him, hence the delay.

Thats not right .There was no traffic on the A10 yesterday afternoon.I saw cambridge players training on the pitch at 10 past 2 when me and bad egg walked in and were fully kitted up.Also most of the cambridge fans were in the ground by then so how could Mr newman be in a traffic jam.
