Bad news folks concerning Buckingham Athletic who play in the SSML First Division:

"Last night at around 1.30am arsonists burnt the club shop to the ground. This is obviously devasting news to the club as we had only just repaired the shop after vandals ransacked the club shop some 5/6 weeks ago ripping off the roof etc. After many hours spent repairing the shop and fixing the tannoy system, and electrics we are now left wth no club shop and severe damage to the electrics feeding the ground. Fire offiicers will be attending the ground later today to establish the extent of the the damage to the electrics".

I can never understand why vandals and arsonists target non league Football Clubs who only want to do good in their Community, Haringey Borough had a serious fire back in March that almost destroyed their stand which is the biggest in the league with 280 seats albeit badly maintained with pigeons nesting in the rafters, you run the risk of getting deposited on during games.

Edgware have also suffered down the years. In the 80's we won the Spartan league but were denied promotion because the original wooden seating stand was burnt down <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />.

There was recently a fire in the clubhouse, that left it gutted, and had to built again, (its very nice now), I think there has actually been two fires at the clubhouse down the years.

I guess at this level its a case of security, a lot of the grounds are left unlocked during the day, and even when locked kids can jump the walls/entrances.

It's a shame, because as rightly said its for their own comunity, Chelsea and Man u dont do anything for the community of Edgware !!!

That said, why on the Kentish Town site does it have Chelsea and other teams crests?

Cliff, I don't recall Buckingham Athletic having a club shop and just read on non-league daily that it was Buckingham Town's club shop that burnt down. Still a tragedy whoever it is.

Lato - I might have got it wrong, it was one of the Buckingham Club's anyway. How come your friendly with Hounslow Borough was called off tomorrow, have you got something else arranged. I heard that we (Kentish Town) might be coming to your place on 3 August, that will be something to look forward to, you'll be able to roll out the red carpet, mine's a pint of Stella.
