Crawley Coming Our Way?

The only way AFC Wimbledon is related to MK Dons, is that they're an Associate Football Club of Wimbledon.

Their history only runs for the past three of four seasons, (however long they've been around).

Situations like there's are not black and white. A document can show the official status, but MK Dons do not deserve any of the history that Wimbledon built up. I like the way that every time they arrange a pre season, all their opponents pull out due to fans protests!

The fact is that yes, they are a 'new' club. But the fact is they were formed after trying to save their club from money greedy men who did not care that they had come a long way in the same area that they had started in when they were non-league.

Imagine if Canvey made it all that way and then were taken over by some rich business man who thought that it didn't matter where they played asa long as money could be made and then moved us to say Hertfordshire somewhere coz there was more 'opportunity' for us. We would be up in arms about it. Anyone who says different is lying their ar*e off!

AFC Wimbledon are not like FC United whose fans screamed out for success year after year and were just plain ignorant to think that with success wouldn't attract wealthy people. Their fans were happy with the money they got from it and the trophies it would bring and then with that it became a PLC which means that anyone can buy it. Someone did and they thought that that was out of order. They wanted things like that until they realised this and cried like babies who just had their play thing taken away.

For those fans, i have no sympathy. But for Wimbledon, i do because it came down to regional status and the need to be recognised as true 'local' supporters without the money aspect and that was taken away from them because of money.

This statement from their website just about sums up why they are right to keep their 'history'.

'The supporters of AFC Wimbledon believe that our club is a continuation of the spirit which formed Wimbledon Old Centrals in 1889 and kept Wimbledon Football Club alive until May 2002. We consider that a football club is not simply the legal entity which controls it, but that it is the community formed by the fans and players working towards a common goal. We therefore reproduce the honours won by what we believe was, and will always be, 'our' club, in our community.'
