dont think its working.. i would have gone for the port vale at home cos thats when the team got that edge of confidence that led to a lot of what followed..

but i will go for the trophy final cos we actually won 'the non league' cup it was a fantastic night back at the lane and basilricay will never win it ;-)

Saw every game except the Port Vale away game. On the basis that it was only our second time in the FA cup, were playing away, played the whole game against eleven men, did not tire when we were expected to in extra time, I’m going for this game. Overall, a pretty impressive line up we had with Bods in there also.

Although all the above games were great days out. I think the one that really sticks in my mind is the Canvey Vs Southend @ Roots Hall. Not just for the actual game, but for the build-up and the aftermath. The atmosphere in our bar afterwards was terrific even though we had lost, and it was even more thrilling a few weeks later to hear that the Shrimpers had been knocked out by Kingstonian!!!

The night out in Chester city centre was enjoyable and unfortunately I was too drunk to remember much of what happened after Villa Park, but the Wigan & Burnley games looked great from the Press Boxes!!

mind u in stimmos defence .. 0-3 at basilricay last boxing day..

he piled into the advertising boards and almost toppled over.. whilst he was perched accross em having scalped some riccay full back, he still had the presence of mind to ask me for a drag on my marlboro light.. quality

Matthew the thing I remember about the FA Cup match at Southend apart from the huge respect paid to CIFC by Southend and their supporters was the odd business of the part timers being the team attempting to play quality football with the full-timers opting for safety first tactics from the first whistle

Even stranger when you consider the bog of a pitch on the day suited the full-timers over ourselves

Great excitement

The difference when considering the 4-4 Port vale game being our cool composure at Southend and the second half against Vale where we ripped in to the full timers destroying (visibly) the full-timers composure

Two completely differing performances that did enormous credit to the CIFC

For me great excitement both games but deeper emotion during that breathtaking 2nd half against Vale makes it my choice

Best memory of the Southend game was the roof of the North Bank bursting under the weight of the rain giving us an impromptu shower, then the chorus of "s**T ground..no fans!"

CANV : Marlboro Lights, there girly ciggies aren't they ?? !! not what I would associate with a 1664 drinker like yourself !

My most enjoyable match was the Port Vale away game. We had done the impossible at Park Lane and we were all on a high. I bobbed off school for the Tuesday replay but on the journey up, I kept telling myself that lightning never strikes twice. I fully expected a 7 - 1 tonking. Enjoyed a few pints with the Vale fans in the boozer beforehand and then made our way to the ground. I was able to listen to the BBC Stoke match commentary and they were pretty condescending about our part-timers.

We sang and sang and sang - what a night. And what a result. I had to pinch myself on several occasions, just to make sure it wasn't a dream.

I think it was that game that set us up to believe that we could beat almost any league side. It gave us the confidence we later showed against Southend, Wigan, Northampton and Burnley.

What a night. And I was there.

OK guys, we've had your best result ever. now, what is your worst? It could be the worst performance, the worst score, or simply the worst game.

There are some howlers in the archive. Burgess Hill (when Kate nearly got into a fight with a St John Ambulance lady), Lowestoft (where Tony Richardson almost joined the Special Constabulary) or Gravesend at home where we were embarrassed by a floodlight fiasco?

What was your worst?

The worst match had to be Romford away, Mark Barry got a two footed tackle in the gut and I don't think he played for us again. Tilly and Jonah rushed to the players tunnel at full-time ready to smash in anyone that came near and the police were called to calm down the players, not the fans.

The worst performance had to be the Chelmsford game the other week, there was no excuse for that performance and I can't recall a worse one I've seen.

If I think of a worse Referee performance I'll post it here later.
