Enfield 3-1 Bury Town

A fine through ball in the opening moments almost gave Marlon Stuart an opportunity but a sliced clearence from Bury keeper Paul Barber then saw him catch the ball with Marlon looking around for the ball. A chance for Bury as Steve Bugg shot wide of the target, A fine cross from Sam Judge and Barber had to be at his best to take the ball. An excellant chance for Bury from a corner by Lee Smith was headed back across Es area and Steve Bugg put a golden opportunity wide . Bury's Scott field was then put in the clear but Paul Daley raced off his line to gather. With 21 mins gone Es went ahead Sammy Judge's free kick was met by the head of Marlon Stuart who got between Ian Miller & Tom bullard and his header flew into paul Barber's net. Bury responded with a shot from 25 yards from Scott Chaplin but was a foot wide. A deft flick by Marlon Stuart gave Owen Beale a fine chance but he missed his kick and the chance was lost.A shot from the edge of the box again by Chaplin but Daley was well placed to save it. Sam Judge was then clattered from behind by Lee Summerscales. Es were awarded a free kick on 36 mins Sam Judge sent it over and as the ball was partly cleared Sherwin Stanley sent in a low drive which just found its way into the bottom corner 2-0. A nasty looking knee injury for Bury Keeper Paul Barber as he and Marlon Stuart went for a 50 - 50 ball ,He was stretchered off after a long stoppage and was replaced by Richard Butler .Danny Gabriel shot wide and was then booked as a late offside flag saw him lob the ball over Butler ,A very harsh booking.

In the second half a fine run by Sammy Judge and he shot just wide ,On 51 mins a chance for Bury with Steve Bugg shooting straight at Paul Daley.A brilliant cross from Judge and Marlon Stuart looked set to score but he miskicked the ball. On 63 mins a good lay off by Marlon Stuart and paul oshin shoots over the bar.Bury subs James Tainton off Andrew Wood on 64 mins, Scott Chaplin off for Carl Murkin 66mins ,A sam Judge corner was then headed wide by Sherwin Stanley. On 75 mins it was 3-0 to enfield a cross for Owen Beale and his flick towards Danny Gabriel struck the Hand of Scott Field ,Mr Fay had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Danny Gabriel hammered it home. On 78 mins a blunder from Owen Beale and Dean Gilbert between them gave Steve Bugg the chance to reduce the arrears 3-1. Ricky case on for Sherwin Stanley and Case was then booked for kicking the ball away . A free kick for Bury then saw Lee Summerscales amazingly blast his free kick some distance over the crossbar,In the closing moments three shots from distance all from Craig Parker all went well over Daley's bar without causing him any trouble.

Good result. A lot of people were saying that Bury would do pretty well this season.

Thanks for the sporting comment Mr H ,We went off the rails a bit in the second half though, but its still 3 points , looks like the league's taking shape already as regards Top & Bottom teams.
