HOW DID WE NOT GET ANYTHING OUT OF THIS GAME?!

We must've had about 90% of the possession and couldn't do anything with it!

For me this was worse than Saturday, not in the fact that we played badly, cause we didn't, just that Tilbury were even worse than Arlesey!!

Everything going down the wings was good, we've obviously learned to play a bit wider now. But Tilbury protected their penalty area so well that once we got within feet of it they had six men behind the ball everytime.

All long balls to Jay or Nicky were closed down by three men again like Saturday and when we did play it on the floor we did everything but score.

Ricky's injury looked quite bad, something in his shoulder or collar. We didn't have Glen on the bench so Adam Holmes, (a leftback) goes in goal for the second half.

Can't see what really happened for their first, it seemed to deflect of Adam's legs back to their Striker who just outpaced the defence and hit home.

Their second was a bit special though, a good strike, but we shouldn't have allowed him to run across the face of goal like that. Someone, anyone, should've put their foot in.

Thought Leon played really well today, and Jay and Nicky and Dobbo. Clyde wasn't his normal self though, but still received the MotM award.

For now we really need to work on breaking down those rock-hard six man defences. Without Ryan we don't have the classy midfielder to put the perfect through ball past the backline, any attempt today was thwarted.

Ricky could be out for a while so Glen will have his chance, and we still won't have a sub Goalkeeper!

Think we're realising now how much we're missing Ryan Edgar though. We didn't close Tilbury down quick enough, especially in Midfield and their long ball onto the pacy Striker worked twice. The defence also need to learn how to head or at least clear a ball first time without letting it bounce! That really got on my nerves, seeing the centrebacks let the ball bounce then tap it to each other or back to the 'Keeper - It should be headed back out to the waiting winger so we can keep up the attack!!

Many positives from today, apart from the scoreline and Ricky's injury. We just need to learn how to break down the opposition and give them no time on the ball for the counter attack.

Have to mention the Referee - How inconsistant was he? Two minutes in and Dobbo is fouled in the area and the Referee waves play on because he doesn't wanna give us the upperhand so early in the game! Two minutes from the end, while we're 2-nil down the same thing happens again outside the box and he actually decides to give us the chance!!!

Hopefully, some of our injuries will recover over the week and we'll have some key players back for Fakenham!

Good attendance of 519 though, that'll put some extra pounds in the pot. But I make out we've slipped down to 11th in the league now.

I completely disagree that any positives came out of today's shambles.

We were extremely weak all across the park, getting barged off the ball at every opportunity - we need some bulk, especially in midfield. So yes, we badly need Edgar back.

Our defending today was more atrocious than it was against Arlesey, especially for the second goal. I saw nothing special in that at all - three of our players were around one Tilbury player and the ball still ended up in the back of the net - how?

We played long ball to no effect what-so-ever and when we did have the ball on the ground, we rushed every last thing we did which usually led to either being barged from the ball, or having a pass intercepted.

I take your point about us doing well on the wings, but I feel that was our only bright spot. You're also correct in saying that Tilbury are a worse team that Arlesey, but I think it's entirely wrong to suggest in any way that the reason we didn't score was because they stuck 10 men (or six, if you prefer) behind the ball. We didn't score because we weren't good enough.

We took many a rash shot at goal, which usually resulted in the ball flying a mile and half over the bar and our crosses were largely useless.

We played like England did against Trinadad & Tobago at the World Cup and I for one am not happy saying that we played like that because we had poor opposition. We played badly because we were bad and no better opposition would have made a difference.

The only other prositive to come from today was the attendance and that had sod all to do with the performance. Chuffed to bits that it was over 500, but how many will be back for the Fakenham game? After today I'd be surprised if 300 came back.

Most disappointing today. Took a lot of bottle for Adam Holmes to go in goal and fair play to him for that.

Canvey never really looked like scoring today and as you say, Tilbury were not that great a side either.

The only positive was the 500 plus crowd and it is a shame that they could not have been treated to a better display from Canvey than this.

Not having a keeper on the bench cost us the game i think we played well but from the first few minutes when we didn't get that penalty we knew it wasn't going to be our day. The players still played the long ball sometimes but when we had the ball on the floor and was passing it around we played well and they were on the back foot. In the whole of the second half they had two shots which both went in we had about twenty shots and looking at that it makes you wonder how we didn't manage to score we had lots of good chances and there keeper did pull off a couple of good saves. An excellent attendence today and hopefully thesse people will be back for more saturday now lets hope we have a good cup run!!!!

not much more to be said, they were the worst team i have seen at park lane in a long time and we were just as bad. although Holmes done about as well as can be expected for a defender in goal, i dont think we would have conceded the 1st goal if an actual keeper had been between the sticks and maybe we could have scored if they hadnt put 11 men behind the ball (you cant blame a team of their standard for doing that). the ref was dire and the linesman not much better and the less said about the few Tibury fans i encountered the better.

thre are many things that lead to todays result but the lack of Johnson on the bench is wha cost us the most.

500+ attendance given the weather just before the game though was fantastic especially as Tilbury only seemed to bring a handful, hopefully we can put on a better show on Saturday to keep the extra at the Lane

A couple started mouthing off just before they scored. One threatened to "make Glenn wear the drum he was playing". Typical Tilbury/Grays gyppos.

They have fans

Relatives of one of the players I believe.

F'n pikey scum. As much as I like this 'family atmosphere' of un-segregated games, I'd feel a hell of a lot easier in what I am saying (slagging off the opposition/fans) if they were segregated.

the problem was the women expected to be able to swear at us and not expect anyone having ago back, i understand the old man who moaned about speaking to a women like that, but that was no women. she had one of those Essex accents that just grate through you
