Pathetic formation and team selection

Pathetic first half display.(as usual at home in big matches)

Pathetic ref.

EFC were given non-existant penalty for the first, and then scored a well worked move finished by a header soon after.Town missed loads of chances in the second half.No bloody killer instinct.

What was JC playing at with the formation? We win comfortably and look good in our last match. What does JC do? CHANGE IT ALL AROUND!

There was only one team up for this match in the first half and it certainly wasn't Town.

Penalty didn't look like one from where I was but hey-ho. No complaints about the second Enfield goal - good finish from a good ball in.

Town had the better 11 players on the pitch yet lost the match. It was the decision as to where we put these players that lost the game, not EFC being brilliant, not the referee. Particularly in the first half the midfield was overrun and there was a lack of width.

JC, please stop tinkering with 4-3-3 or 3-5-2. It hasn't worked over the last few years and I can't see it suddenly working now. Also, I realise you've made him captain, but Brian Hammatt should not automatically get a starting berth every game - he's not that good.

Rant over. Thought Bastian(?), Tickner and Gant had good games. Fitz is still carrying a few too many pies. Crace also looked confident following his goals at Tilbury and I'm sure he'll score more.

EFC were nothing special but looked solid and wanted it that bit more.

How can you drop Velendia and campbell after their recent perfomances? Purcell should never have been playing. How can you play a defender(who has never started a game) UP FRONT.Fitz has never started a game either. What was he doing starting now. Also,Hunt looks Sunday league material at the moment. He should not be starting either.

Bastian provided the desire and committment that i would have liked to see from all the players.

Unfortunatly it is hard to disagree with these comments.
For me the half time substitutions summed up the Managers entire day....GOT IT WRONG.
The first half Town played with no direction and no guts. The performance was negative and just like the Hornchurch game, gave the opposition far to much respect.
In the today's programme Jim states "the season is still only getting underway, but we need to get into a rhythm"..
Well Jim, perhaps 2 away wins scoring 6 and conceeding 0 is a type of rhythm the supporters want to see !
WHY CHANGE IT and play with no wingers with the ball launched upfield to our 2 small forwards ?
What did Fitz and Purcell add to our gameplan ?
I do not blame the Players, I blame the poor team selection and overall attitude which was negative and defeatest from the start.
God help us against Sudbury.

A pathetic first half against a side that were very average. No width and why was Velandia and Hughes not used????????? Poor leadership both on and off the pitch. An improved second half but it was too late.

I also heard that in the tunnel as the players were waiting to come out with two young mascots the EFC players were saying somthing along the lines of "Let's do these f***** c****! Then, when things didn't go our way int the second half some pillock close to Very Little Miss Happy shouted "F*** you ref". she immediately copied this. EFC fans' chants were pretty bad too! Second half, other Town supporters frustrations boiled over and a couple of idiots started screaming abuse too. Our family orientated club appears to losing its family orientation.

Someone tell me please,

"WHAT WAS THAT ALL ABOUT"?

I & several others have stated on this forum before about messing about with player selection & how we need stability in the team, so after two consecutive away wins what was that team selection about today?

Liam Patrick has now played 3 games for the Town & looks a solid player but in those 3 games he has played left back, centre back, & today right back! WHY?

We have had Lee Smith up front, midfield & right back! WHY?

Purcell up front? WHY?

Dean Nyman has looked as fresh & fit as I have ever seen him yet is in & out of the team, WHY?

Valandia not just dropped from the starting 11 but from the squad today, WHY?

Bryan Hammett is still not performing any better than last season but still gets picked, WHY?

We have a good strong squad but they will not perform whilst this pathetic management continues!

It is getting embarrasing, something has to be done & soon!

I was disgusted at the language all round today.. very little Miss Happy learnt to say F**K O*F thanks to a Town fan standing next to us behind the goal in the first half and then the continued bad language coming from the Enfield goalie well I will be seriously considering whether its really for families in the future!! We spoke to the stewards who did have words with the few particular culprits but to no avail by the end of the match several of the players (enfield) and some of the town fans were bad mouthing again.. as much as I appreciate that football and bad language go together in banter I'm sure that none of you would appreciate your children using that kind of language in any circumstances!!!!!

Paul Campbell took one hell of a knock on Saturday and my understanding was Jim didn't want to give him a whole game whilst not fully fit. Liam is a defender first and last and will cover for defender type roles.

Lee Smith is a loyal clubman and when he, Nyman and Campbell came on I felt they did give us heart, passion and drive. We freeze on the big occasion against EFC. As someone else said they just seem to want it more. For Town fans there isn't a bigger derby game and yes we weren't good enough in the first half.

Dean Nyman was arguably the best goal scorer last season and I'd like to see him and Rikki Crace paired. My front line would be Crace, Nyman and Hughes (or Caicedo).

You only have to watch Steve Velandia and you know the answer in physical matches although he has got more solid in terms of body bulk.

I don't rate Bryan as high as others and don't see he has an automatic right to a place in the first team on current form.

I think the ref made a mistake with the first penalty. But the second possible penalty at the EFC end was just as much a penalty if not more being pulled to ground by his shirt and we have photographic proof according to Cyclops.

I will complain about the referee in that I thought he was like me overweight and NOT covering the full pitch so tended to keep himself within a invisible inner rectangle on the pitch. He didn't seem to understand what 10 yards was and enforce it when it mewant going outside the rectangle. This meant that things blind side of that inner rectangle either got missed or spotted by the closest linesman. You only had to realise where the blindside was and all things could be sorted and Liam Patrick was a victim of this blind side stuff. As was Fitz after Paul Oshin crashed into him blind side. Liam did ask for it though with the first foul of the game. 25 minutes later he was hobbling off. sorted.

it looks like last season all over again win well away but cant win at home.....yet.
things may change we didn't win the first 2 games at home last year.

The two away games were against newly promoted teams. We did well against Abbey (who will be mid table this season) but the performance was by no means as great as some supporters have said. Tilbury were poor and I bet they end up in the bottom three.

But he thought it ok to give him 65 mins? Yeah right ok!
Sounds like another Chandler crap tactic to me.

So why did Michael Black get in ahead of Velendia then? Steve is a lot stronger and a better tackler than he is???

Look.Crace and Hammett are too similar. Why not try Hughes up with Crace,or even Nyman or Smith.

Smithy and Nyman deserve to start next game,as do Velendia and Mackey.

Unless we can start playing any sort of football at home(especially in the first half)we will never win a league. Our away form over the last six years since our formation has been superb.Championship winning form every year. Our home record since our formation has been shocking.Bottom 8 form most seasons.Until we can find out why we can't play at home and fix it, we will always be running to stand still.

Regarding the post of Mrs Happy:

I think this whole issue stems from the lack of direction on the part of the stewards. Dont get me wrong, I think they do a sterling job most of the time. At last years members meeting, it was decided to stop people banging on the shed/stand - it has happened - so why not this?

This also alludes to another problem, we seemed short of stewards today; that is something Town fans can help sort out - volunteer to help.

Bad language is prevelant in football, but as a family club, it is something we should always be watchful of. You will lose families unless you can demonstrate your committment to a decent level of behaviour.
