Where has my post gone

Recommended Posts

I just count think of a good example without reciting a joke that some people would find offensive. but i did give the example earlier of a TV show called brass eye that used the subject of paedophilia to satirise the hysteria in the western world in recent years. the next days following a hate campaign from the daily mail the show received 734 complaints and 1456 of praise, and was finally nominated for a BAFTA. and in my mind is one of the most important and funny pieces of TV to be made in many many years

And yes I know my spelling is as poor as my taste

Sorry Ken, I cannot fathom how anybody could find ... mass genocide funny,

you had better talk to Charlie Chaplin, Mel brooks to name just a few famous comedians who have used the Nazis agenda for humour. also maybe contact Victor Frankl

psychiatrist Victor Frankl, a prisoner in the camps himself, noted in his book, Man's Search for Meaning, that humour was one of the things that helped people survive in the camps. Finding things to laugh at helped maintain a sense of meaning and purpose in life--even as prisoners saw others dying all around them.

"I would never have made it if I could not have laughed. Laughing lifted me momentarily . . . out of this horrible situation, just enough to make it livable . . . survivable." (Victor Frankl)

"Humour, more than anything else in the human makeup, affords an aloofness and an ability to rise above any situation, even if only for a few seconds." (Victor Frankl)

or maybe someone you may recognise

Bill Cosby once said, "If you can find humour in anything, you can survive it."

don’t judge a person on what they find funny. especially as you will never know what will one day tickle your fancy and you may find yourself laughing at the most inappropriate time at the most inappropriate things

and no it hadn’t even crossed my mind that the PMs were from you

Somehow Ken, i'm sure the humour they used wasn't connected with the people being slaughtered and butchered around them. Surely you can figure that one out.

Best leave this subject alone now, its getting boring and its upsetting people.

Does anyone remember the the only Fools & Horses Batman episode, Del Boy turns up at a funeral in a Batman suite.

Or grandads funeral episode!

Anyone who laughed at that must be as sick as Ken.

As an animal lover I have always found Monty Python's sick Joke about the dead parrot rather offensive!!

Then we have Little Britain laughing at people in wheelchairs (Sick B^stards)!!

Also as a fat chap I must say, how dare they portray fatfighters in such a way!!!

If that was not bad enough one comedy writer has written a peice where a jewish money lender looks to cut a pound of flesh out of somebody in order to repay a debt (sick or what!!)

I would avoid that one its called Taming of The Shrew by some little known comedy writer called William somebody or another!!

At my Mother's funeral service (I was 16) I was sitting in the front row with my kid sister (We had buried our Dad 6 months previous, boy he was furious!!!...Only kidding, but it's true he had died 6 mths earlier).

The priest was in full flow telling the congregation what a wonderful woman my Mother was and how she would be dearly missed etc, when a black cat wandered up to the tressle supporting the coffin and began to scratch it's back up and down one of the tressle's legs.

I barely noticed it at first, such was my distress and grief, until it starting purring contentedly. It was clearly enjoying the experience because the purring just got louder and louder until it got to the point where it was drowning out the priest!!

At which point the priest took two steps forward and booted the cat up the @rse with such force that it landed half down the aisle. At which point my sister and I, in the blink of an eye, went from sobbing uncontrollably to hysterical, unable to breathe, laughing!!!!

I tell you people...It's a fine line!

Firstly I didn’t send any jokes about sarah Payne, Hitler, the final solution, I posted abo9ut the death of Steve Irwin and put a joke I was e-mailed with it. Some people decided to take offence and launch personal attacks. I tried to explain how there is nothing wrong with ‘gallows humour’ and now I will try it one last time

the joke doesn’t laugh at what happened, I think everyone agrees that was terrible. what jokes of a risky nature cause is an uncomfortable feeling and there for make the joke element (which is usually down to English structure and unusual circumstance) stronger.

take for example the office and the famous David Brent dance, the dance isn’t funny it is the uncomfortable feeling of embarrassment you feel for him. by creating that feeling you heighten emotion and thus increase the effectiveness. now not everyone gets this style of humour but it has been around forever and no one should apologise for seeing humour in terrible incidents.

All getting very boring reading your self rightrous bollox here Ken.

Why don't we agree to disagree on what we find funny and put this in the past?

You can just get back resting your leg and listening to your sh*tty techno once again whilst waiting for the next celebrity death to come along to put laughter into what must be a very dull little life for sure. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
