Sudbury Away Day

Will be at Sudbury tomorrow and must admit I didn't see us getting a return from this game as Sudbury seem to have got there act together quite early.

However, I've just seen this article on their website.

Six Suspended This Saturday!

AFC Sudbury's squad will be stretched this weekend with no fewer than 6 players suspended. Paul Abrahams, Tommy Bradlaugh and Neil Calver are all in the middle of a 7 day ban as are Reserve players Jamie Howe, Trevor Irvine and Mark Theobald.

This means Chris Howlett and Tommy Noble are moved into the First Team Squad leaving Bob with five places to fill in the Reserves side which travels to Woodbridge Town Reserves on Saturday afternoon.

Should be a very interesting game tomorrow with a good crowd.

I also took this snippet from their website if anyone is interested.......

Looks like they work at pace - could be difficult for our back four tomorrow and we need to keep an eye on the offside and getting drawn across.

Pace Is Key To Canvey Success - SFP

Three players are ruled out by suspension, so AFC Sudbury manager Mark Morsley has no option but to ring the changes for the visit of the once-mighty Canvey Island to King's Marsh Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

Paul Abrahams, Tommy Bradlaugh and Neil Calver are all serving seven-day bans, so Tommy Noble and Chris Howlett are added to the squad for the Ryman League division one north fixture.

Canvey were a Conference side last season, but dropped three divisions when owner and manager Jeff King pulled his financial support and moved to Chelmsford City.

Manager John Batch, a former player who had been in charge of the reserves, has had to rebuild, with almost all of last season's players leaving Park Lane.

Canvey have won one and lost two of their opening four league fixtures, but Morsley is not expecting an easy game. "I think teams coming here are lifted by the ground and the pitch," he said.

But Morsley feels that AFC's pace could be a key factor. "You use your strengths, and we have lots of pace in the squad, which could unsettle them."

Canvey, despite the drop in status, have been attracting good attendances at their home games, so Morsley expects a sizeable gate.

Both teams were successful in the FA Cup last Saturday, AFC winning 6-2 at Berkhamsted Town and Canvey beating Fakenham Town 4-1 at home.

Indeed. Remember him scoring a good goal at home to Aldershot after a few minutes when he was there.

There is a very good chance that the game will have the highest league attendance tomorrow although Hornchurch v Bury may just top it.

We seem to have filled the coach again but wonder how many we will take as Sudbury sit top of the league? Are there any events or other games that may put a few of the Yellow Army off of travelling?

I'm going for a crowd in excess of 400 tomorrow.

well at step 5 he was prolific but bacame surplus at maldon when they were promoted to step and of course they went on to step 3 before reegation last season.

sudbury signed him for step 5 but by what ive read he has been playing reserves this season. maybe he's been injured i dont know. i havent seen him at his best but his record is decent.
