Christ, I don't think I've been as nervy for the last twenty minutes of a game since Villa Park 1, today!!

Their goal was kinda sloppy again, a hooked ball over the top of the defence wasn't dealt with properly and their player had time to bring it down and hit it on the half volley across Ricky into the far corner of the goal.

1-0 down in the opening few minutes and it felt like Arlesey all over again.,,

HOWEVER! ... several minutes later and Sudbury conceded a free kick just outside their penalty area. Their 'Keeper doesn't adjust their wall properly and Corbell hits a low drive that bends around the wall and into the near corner beyond the immobile 'Keeper - A fantastic come back.

Minutes remaining till half-time and a corner from the left finds the free head of Kevin Dobinson who glances the ball into the back of the 'net to put Canvey into the lead and the Yell...sorry, White & Blue Army went mental!!!

Second half we defended pretty well, yet still create some good chances. We had the best chance of the second half, Jay Curran firing wide when one-on-one with the 'Keeper and Nicky Rugg's lob going just inches high and wide of the goal with the 'Keeper beaten. Sudbury had their fair share of chances but our defence was like a rock through out that half and it's such a relief to see the ball headed straight back out from danger. We blocked everything they had and totally ran the Midfield. Their method of attack was repetitve and sussed out by our fullbacks.

The antics in the Shed between both sets of fans were wild, I am half deaf and mostly hoarse from all the singing. Their fans were a great bunch though. My only concern being it took at least ten minutes to get served in both the Pub outside the ground and their Clubhouse. They did know we were coming right?

Three points in the bag though, and every player deserves a pat on the back for today's solid effort. Lets hope those that play, keep it up against the Urchins on Tuesday.

I didn't even get to take any photos, I was too engrossed in the game and helping keep the Canvey side of the Shed in fine voice.

We took three points and we took the penguins head!!

Great result and brilliant performance. Atmosphere was great in the second half.

I'll get the photos of the day on here in the next few days.

Absolutely blinding performance from the lads today. I'm very, very pleased with that. I'm glad that we managed to look steady at the back and certainly not as square as we have done in previous games. None of the players gave up at any point during the ninety (one hundred and five!) minutes and I'm surprised neither Ruggy or Curran found themselves on the score sheet - their keeper made some top-notch saves and deserves a lot of credit for keeping the score at 2-1.

If I had to be slightly negative, I'd say we played the ball too often in the air, however we did so well and it wasn't merely a case of lumping the ball upfield in a vain hope that someone might be on the end of it. Playing the ball in the air often led to another attack and some great skill and excitement. As long as they keep that up, I've got no complaints.

Very good game, very good performance.

Good performance from the lads today on a lovely sunny day. Fine performances all round and great acknowledgement from the players.

Referee and linesmen were poor today and missed all sorts of crap going on - decisions on both sides.

I could not believe the amount of extra time they allowed - ridiculous.

I got you a couple of programmes!!

You are a top bloke indeed MOB (despite what those Hornchurch people think!!!) - I do appreciate it very much indeed thank you.

If you are going to Hornchurch to watch our reserves on Tuesday, would you mind getting me another programme there please mate? Have to work unfortunately and want to save my holidays for when it really starts to matter.

Perhaps I can finally buy you that beer I owe you at the next home game v. Maldon Town?

What do you mean, THEY ALL LOVE ME and want to spend time with me, no matter how it causes them inconvenience!!

Why else do they keep promising to come and visit me in the middle of the night!!

Must say Sudbury fans were a great bunch. Kept singing for their team right until the end and were gracious in defeat. A great bunch of lads.
