Harlow 2-0 Enfield

First chance to Harlow with Lewis Bakers freekick headed over by Sammy winston on 2 mins ,Leon Lalite was booked for Harlow for disputing a freekick. Good work from Paul Oshin led to Sherwin Stanley getting a shot away but Glenn Jackson saving well low to his right. On 18 mins Lalite's freekick was sliced behind his own goal by Mark Whittington and from the corner Harlow went ahead as Marc Salmon's delivery found the head of Danny Boateng to send a backward header past a surprised Paul Daley.
Es responded with Dean Gilbert heading over from Owen Beale's freekick, Sam Judge then put a freekick well wide and then a fine run and good ball by Paul Oshin was fed to Sherwin Stanley whose shot was very well saved low to his right by Glenn Jackson.Paul Oshin then shoots over from Danny Gabriels knock down on 28 mins. A bizzare delay of 3 mins as all the balls were being rounded up from outside the ground and others were ruled too flat by Ref Mr James.
On 40 mins Harlow went 2-0 up with a foul by Mark Whittington on Marc Salmon , Leon Lalite's curling freekick from 25 yards sailed into the corner . In stoppage time Paul Oshin almost got Es back in it by shooting inches wide.

H/T Greg Williams on for Boateng for Harlow. Marc Salmon found himself through Es rearguard but Paul Daley just cut the danger out . 49mins Ricky Case on for Dean Gilbert for Es .Oliver Stroud on for Owen Beale. Danny Gabriel shoots wide from an acute angle, And a very poor decision from the line As Marlon Stuart broke clear only for Danny Gabriel to be given offside when he was running back towards his own half and definately not interfering. ??? Daley then just beat Salmon to a through ball with Salmon claiming Daley took him with a high tackle. Harlow Goalkeeper Glenn Jackson almost embarrassed himself with Paul Oshin's over hit ball and Jackson missing the ball but made up his ground in time as the ball rolled goalwards. Harlow were shutting up shop and defending quite well as Es possession just petered out in the final third all too often.Another Bizzare moment followed with a Harlow player being given offside by the linesman and Mr James not spotting the flag and Danny Gabriel being given offside a second or two later .The freekick was given to Harlow ???(It was funny) But in the final moments Harlow could have increased their lead with Winston being foiled by Daley in a 1 on 1 ,And Salmon shoots just wide on 89mins and the last moment saw Oliver Stroud booked for a trip.

Harlow 1 Glenn Jackson 2 Mark Taylor 3 Lewis Baker 4 Becket Hollenbach 5 Ryan Kirby 6 Lee Miles 7 Leon Lalite 8 Danny Boateng 9 Sammy Winston 10 Ken Davies 11 Marc Salmon subs 12 Mike Glidden 14 Shaun Glidden 15 Craig Charles 16 Greg Williams 17 Papa Ndiaye-Diagne

Es 1 Paul Daley 2 Mark Whittington 3 Wes Borghys 4 Kevin Kilroy 5 Dean Gilbert 6 Paul Oshin 7 Sammy Judge 8 Owen Beale 9 Marlon Stuart 10 Danny Gabriel 11 Sherwin Stanley subs 12 Ricky Case 14 Louis Lancaster 15 Oliver Stroud 16 Gbenga Sonuga 17 Dan Amfossi

Nick Turner should be back in training in a couple of weeks as he gets over his ankle ligament damage. He is at best a month away from any sort of 1st team comeback.

We do play better against the big clubs for some reason . We took points off most of the leading pack clubs last season but then again failed against some of the struggling sides.

A bad night all round .Even Mr Horn's horn was drowned out by an air-raid siren from the other end.

I spoke to a Harlow lady offical who was telling me about the pettiness of the inspection of the new ground with 10 things listed as being wrong . Dugouts too close to the pitch and being too small was the main one . Frustrating for them.

typical non league bollox, there is probably no real need to make them play elsewhere but the people that run the game at this level have to make themselves feel important

Morning ladies and gents. Thanks for contributing to an entertaining game last night.

You had the best of the opening 15 and we thought we were in for a tough night but we stepped up a gear from there on and I felt deserved the win.

You're right, this issue with the ground is crazy. The likes of Tilbury and Flackwell Heath are allowed to play football at their "Stadium" yet we can't. Dugouts too close to the touchlines??? What about Berko where a brick wall is a foot from the touchline all around the pitch?

Look forward to the return game at Ware.

Two weeks ago it was put up that they would be playing the game at Bishops Startford or else I might have considered going to the ground opening but I wont say who I would have wanted to win. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Marc Salmon - now there's a blast from the past. I notice that Craig Charles turned out too - straight from Coronation Street.

Forgive me for not keeping up but have Harlow built a completely new ground? I comletely agree about the absurdly high standards required of non-league grounds - right up to Conference - but you'd think it was not hard to get a NEW ground to comply.
