Ware v Canvey

The performance of the officials was very very poor.

The only person who had a worse game was the Canvey keeper.

This was not down to lack of coaching this was down to immaturity and lack of concentration.

Ricky can kick better than that four times he kicked a goal kick straight at their player, six times he did not even look he just whacked it up the field, you cant do that and win games!!

Ricky cost us the game, but if the other 11 played 100% we should have buried a very poor side!

A fair result would have been 4 - 1 Canvey, so when we are digging out our keeper lets remember Lee Jay, West, Dobbo and a few others were not at their best today either!!

I also believe in that theory and so I am looking forward to our next few games where we should win by about 8 goals to nil, get several penalties per game and never, ever get blown up for off-side. We simply didn't get any luck today at all and so many of the decisions went against us. When the ball bounced, it never bounced in our favour and we can be forgiven for thinking, 'We wuz robbed!'

Someone once said that in football, you make your own luck. Perhaps our 'keeper should remember that famous golfer (was it Ian Woosnam?)who replied when someone remarked how lucky he was with one of his putts, "Yeah, funny that. And the more I practice, the luckier I get." It wasn't bad luck that sent so many of those kicks straight to the opposition!

Still, once again, I saw lots of potential out there today. We have the sort of side that can do well and we musn't let Lady Luck nor poor officials to get us down.

I can't wait for the next game.

the goal was offside i believe but i thought a ware player knocked the ball accross the goal?? Also was it me or did the ref seem to book the same player twice does anyone know?? if so it just shows how poor the ref and also how poor the officals were today!!!

Quite enjoyed the game today - although not the result!

As for the officials - well I thought they were dire in the Conference and can remember slating them then - we just have to get on with it as nothing is going to change. If you bought a programme today and read the opening article it mentioned that the number of registered referees is down from 13,000 to 10,000 so it doesn't look good for the future.

I thought the lads worked hard today and Ware weren't going to be a push over. They looked a bit shakey in defence but had a fair bit of pace once they broke through just outside the area.

We more than held our own today and felt we deserved a point.

I'm not going to slate poor Ricky - he looked gutted enough at the end. As mentioned he did a simlar kick out to the right on a number of occassions with one being kicked straight back at him and going just wide. He needs to keep his head up and work hard in training - he's certainly a decent shot stopper but needs to work on those areas where he is weakest. Certianly a goal keeping coach would be worth his weight at the moment.

We aren't going to win them all and this was one of those games where you just walked away feeling a little bit robbed by the final result.

Extremely angry after yesterday's match and spent the entire train journey back to Wycombe wondering how the two appalling decisions in the second half went against us.

First half I thought we more than held our own attacking wise, but defensively we still let them run at us, even in the penalty area. I think our goal was a bit flukey to be honest. A better Goalkeeper would've tipped it around the post - Excellent delivery from Lee Jay though.

Second half, we upped the tempo and their only real threat came from the long ball, which we still seem not to be able to clear properly or if we do first time, there is never a Canvey shirt around for the second ball.

First of the major abismal refereeing decisions was the Jay Curran penalty appeal - The lino gave the only thing it couldn't have been - a goal kick!

If Jay had dived it would've been a free-kick.

If Jay was fouled it would've been a penalty.

If it was neither of the above then it was most certainly a corner!

The offside equaliser I can't really comment about. I didn't see anything wrong during the whole procedure, but didn't see at which point the linesman had raised his flag - To be honest I wasn't even sure who scored! I thought it was Jay Curran, but others say Dobbo! Anyway, if it was during all that rucuss that the lino raised his flag, he wouldn't have been able to tell who was offside anyway from where he was standing as the penalty area was packed with blue and white shirts all blended like Zebras and his view would've definately been obscurred. Good goal if it had counted though!

I think it's back to the drawing board for a couple of the players though. Enough has been said about Ricky's errors and you saw how gutted he was when it went in. However, now is the time for the Manager to be the man and drop him. Give Glen his chance to take up the challenge for the number one shirt. I would also rest West and Lee Jay, as I think they've been quite ineffective recently, but I don't feel we have the strength in depth to do that. Maybe Britnell should have a league start? Get a solid and commanding presence on the pitch?

It's noticable that Ware were finding lots of space down the right yesterday and I think taking off Leon was a bad decision. Corbell and he were definately making progress in the second half and with Ruggy, Curran and Dobbo all breaking into the penalty area on the attack, taking the ball to the corner flag and whipping into the area at the last minute would've looked a smart move.

I will most probably be back for the Aveley game next weekend and things will get better, I'm certain.

Fingers crossed Ryan Edgar will be fully fit for next week as he was on the bench yesterday and I hope Crow's back soon.

By the way, which of their goals is classed as the own goal? The one that was going in anyway that hit West or the one that Ricky headed into his own net? I would say the latter!
