Just had a text from Tony. Enfield won 4 - 3 after extra time against Fleet tonight. Bret Donnely scored a hat trick & Owen Beale got the other. Well done Enfield & everyone that made the journey tonight, lets hope we are home in the next round.

Fleet Town 3-4 Enfield (After extra time) WESTVIEW CUP 3rd round.

Es Wes Borghys had to be alert in the opening minutes cutting out a surging run from Fleet's Darren Campbell and this was soon followed by a shot from James Field which flew over Daniel Amfossi's crossbar. Another shot by Field was well claimed by Amfossi soon afterwards.
Es first chance fell to Bret Donnelly from a ball fed by Phil Goss but he fired just over Paul Smith's crossbar. The opening goal came for Fleet on 20 mins as a cross from Ian Griffin disected Es defenders and found James Field who calmly despatched his shot past Amfossi to put Fleet 1-0 up. Almost straight from the restart Es equalised with Bret Donnelly put clear by phil Goss only for Smith to make a fine save but Donnelly kept his nerve to chip the ball over smith from the rebound 1-1. A mild skirmish off the ball saw Phil John booked for fleet but it was a bit harsh on him. Some strange descisions from Referee Mr Potter seemed to kick in at this moment with him not allowing play to continue as the advantage for both sides was not being allowed with all too many picky freekicks being blown for.
A good chance for Fleet as James Field found some space and shot into the side netting. H/T

The first opening in the 2nd half for Es as Sam Judge found Bret Donnelly's head but he was just off target. Dan Costelloe was put through by Paul Oshin but a last ditch tackle denied him his chance. A Sam Judge corner went very well wayward and Es defenders were caught out with with some positive forward movement giving Fleet a great chance but Dan Amfossi saved from Eddie Smith . (Judge off for Owen Beale) A Shaun Hale freekick was well saved by Amfossi. A fine cross by Field and Eddie Smith heads over the bar for Fleet.(Eddie Smith off for Nathan Smart for Fleet)
A shot by Fleet's Mark Patterson went over the Es bar on 65 mins ,But on 71 mins Es went ahead as Steve Hemmings was adjudged to have tripped Dan Costelloe just outside the box. Owen Beale sent his freekick round the wall and into Paul Smith's bottom corner to put Es ahead. But back came the home side and just two mins later they levelled .A Mystery freekick to everybody's surprise was awarded by Mr Potter on the edge of Es box. James Field sent a piledriver into the top Corner giving Amfossi no chance at all 2-2.At this point Fleet had the edge and looked to be the more likely to win the tie .But still some pretty odd decisions by Mr Potter all too often kept interupting the flow of the game.A cross from Field found Nathan Smart but somehow he miskicked and his shot went tamely wide, A mistake by Es Oliver Stroud gave Nathan Smart another glorious opportunity but he shot over (He should have scored) (Goss off for Sherwin Stanley)
Panic in the Es defence yet again as Smart again failed to convert a good chance from Field's cross ,Yet another chance for Smart with Amfossi saving this one. Mark Patterson was booked for lugging back Donnelly . From the freekick by Louis Lancater Owen Beale then crashed a shot off Fleet's crossbar on 87 mins . A shot by Phil John went over Es bar.

Extra Time
Es were controversially awarded a penalty on 92 mins as Bret Donnelly attempted to turn his man and appeared to fall backwards over a Fleet defenders leg . Mr Potter gave the penalty to everyone's surprise. Bret Donnelly slammed it home into the bottom corner to put Es 3-2 ahead.Straight away Fleet were back on terms Another poor decision from Mr Potter gave Fleet a nonsence freekick out by the touchline .Griffiths delivery found Mark Patterson who squeezed his header past Amfossi 3-3 . Steve Hemmings then found himself in the book for chopping down Paul Oshin. On 96 mins Es regained the lead as some trickery from Dan Costelloe got him away and an inch perfect cross found Bret Donnelly unmarked to fire bast Paul Smith to complete his Hat Trick. A fine save by Amfossi denied Field and Smart put wide for Fleet (Not A good night for him) Oliver Stroud found himself in Mr Potters book for a nothing challenge on 107 mins (Even the Fleet fans laughed at this one) A fine cross by Sherwin Stanley found Donelly but he put his shot wide of the target .A chance for Fleet as Shaun Hale's shot was saved by Amfossi,Nathan Smart yet again was denied by Amfossi ,And Smart scuffed another shot wide , Wes Borghys was mysteriously booked (Only Mr Potter knew why !!) The freekick by Phil John went over Es bar (Dean Pennant on for Paul Oshin) the last chance fell to James Field who put agonisingly wide in the final moments.

Es 1 Dan Amfossi 2 Mark Whittington 3 Louis Lancaster 4 Paul Oshin 5 Wesley Borghys 6 Oliver Stroud 7 Sammy Judge 8 Phil Goss 9 Dan Costelloe 10 Bret Donnelly 11 Ricky Case subs 12 Kevin Kilroy 14 Owen Beale 15 Dean Pennant 16 Sherwin Stanley 17 Paul Daley .

Fleet Town 1 Paul Smith 2 Ian Griffin 3 Shaun Hale 4 Phil John 5 Mark Patterson 6 Steve Hemmings 7 James Field 8 Mike Douglas 9 Will Salmon 10 Eddie Smith 11 Darren Campbell subs 12 Tony Millerick 14 James Mann 15 Ben Capel 16 Nathan Smart 17 Justin Grey

An excellant display by Oliver Stroud ,Dan Costelloe & Bret Donnelly ,And Fleet's James Field who caused Es defence many problems. And Mr Potter's refereeing certainly wont be forgotten for a while.

A mention of Ricky Case who ended up £157 richer from his team mates from the game of Poker on the coach.

Was a great game last night great football from both sides, lots of goals just a shame the ref had to turn up!!! He almost spoilt a good game of football.

Just a quick mention for Bret what a game 5 weeks out and to come back with a hat-trick and play all 120 minutes, super stuff.
