Time to reflect

Ok then lads and lasses, we would have been well pleased if we had known we would be 3rd at the turn of the year, but let's think about the highs and lows of the first half of the season

Best goal: A choice between Jonah's on the run against Tilbury

Lockie's "Scholesy" volley at Met Police, Benno's at Slough surely set the scene for the next few weeks or what about Rizzo's net cruncher at home to Stotfold.

Best game: Stotfold replay undoubtedly, finished at 10.36pm!

Best Urchins performance: For my money first half at Met Police, played on a carpet.

Funniest moment: What about the Slough version of Swan Lake? (look at the video)

or BE's impersonation of Emu on Boxing Day

Most creditable performance: Seeing the players give their all in training particularly those coming back from injury, well done!

or all the 542 who turned up Boxing Day Mums, Dads and kids

Worst moment: Losing in the Trophy against Walton and Hersham, ah so that was the reason, playing two teams!

What do you think?

Thanks for that classy piece of wisdom.....no doubt who you support....you do however seem to have an insight into the promotion places because there is no doubt that we will get promoted this year...well done for that...probably the first time you've been right in your life....as to a new team next year...well you obviously don't know much about the extent of our first team squad and the very low average age of some of our players....and we've been quietly busy on the old signing front as well........but...if we do need a new team....rest assured that we can afford one......west ham perhaps........or spurs....now they could both do with selling a few players....second thoughts...we're better off as we are....he he....Brilliant first half...can't wait for the second.....come on you urchins....

good topic maxhinio, lot of water under the bridge in the last six months and perhaps it is a good time to reflect on whats gone by. Firstly the playing staff in the first team squad. Well, we only had 14 players at the start of the season, non of them on contracts. We've now got 25 I understand, all on contracts. That has to represent good solid strength in depth and we will need that in the next four mounths. More experience and greater depth on the management front. Good training sessions and the possibility of Dimitri joining us full time on the coaching side. Again, massive steps forward.

The old stadium redevolpment coming on very rapidly. Plans about to go in for the new stand, keep our fingers crossed there, the riverside stands will all be in by March, changing rooms all renovated, club house bar and restaurant making money, new gym and physio centre, all good stuff.

Downside, well perhaps more time for all the new players to settle, personally I don't think we will see the best of this team until late February, March time, great time to come on song dontya think.? also,, don't forget we still have three top player in the physio's centre, they'll be back soon as well.

Supporters, well we started with 40 and we've averaged 300 at home, away support has been virtually non existent but we even seem to be making inroads into that, I understand that a coach full plus the band are going to Harlow on saturday, we will see. All in all, whatever happens, we are on the march and will take some stopping, I even suspect that, begrudgingly, we are making a few friends along the way as well, (although a few bad tempered, spiteful camels, apemen and others may have something to say about that,,who cares, keep winding 'em all up, they deserve everything that they get)............meoowwww....

great 2002, here's to all the players, staff, sponsors and supporters (and even adversaries and detractors)....have a great 2003. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

A major plus has been the way some of the younger players from last seasons squad have taken the step with ease. Im sure the young local lads can learn a lot from the so called has beens! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

To Quote the Camel

''The best moment for me has been watching Hornchurch spunkin their money away on has beens''

Right then, lets have a look at the 'has beens' shall we..... me first....... I'm definately in that catagorey...... ask the missus.....(and me bank manager).....ha ha ha....

Jonah...... well he's 32 now but hold on, 17 goals so far this season, top scorer in the essex charts and near the top of the whole Rymans League charts, you just know he'll top both of those by the end of the season duntya...ha ha ha...

Lockie....he's around 33 but no one really knows...he could be nearer 40.....'has been'....don't think so...as his fitness has returned...he's arguably been our best player over the past six games.....we've had three enquiries for him so far this season so 'has beens' must be popular at the moment...needless to say...we turned 'em all down...even though one of them was from the barclaycard premiership....we didn't tell lockie cos we know he likes it here....!!

Dmitry....34 years of age...not old for an international goalie by any stretch of the imagination.....now quite possibly one of the youngest senior coaches in the game.....still a top class keeper and always available to play if needed...'has been'...dunt think so somehow.....

Sadly for our detractors... thats it....the rest of 'em are at an average age of 24...ha ha ha.....new team next year....dunt think so camel...dream on.....

oh..by the way...nearly forgot....over a hundred assorted international caps in the first team squad.....including maxhinio's that is......

'ere...can you imagine what it must be like if you support another club in our league....'avin' to go to bed at night thinking about all the riches and potential at the urchins...you can understand why they get a bit tempermental sometimes cantya....bless 'em all....

oh....nearly forgot......our commercial director is a 'has been' as well......has been a mayor of havering borough.....ha ha ha....culdnt make it all up culdya.....

PS....Billy the cat's a 'has been' an'all....has been a good cat...now he's just vicious.....ha ha ha....i luv all this madness.....i've got sod all else to do all day.......ha ha ha.....you fink they'd 'ave all learnt by now wuldnt ya.....ha ha ha ha

i think that the best goal of the season so far was jonah's against wealdstone...full volley from 25 yeards and never touched the sides, close second was rizzos against stotfold.

Average age of 24 how many of theses can make the step up not many maybe your lanky keeper thats about it and that chris stowe looks very exciting but that about it.

if your good enough your old enough , well we see next year.

Jonah scored all them goals, so many for a player (or tramp who looks like he has [censored] himself)who has dropped down so many leagues and playing against the likes if aveley and tilbury pat yourself on the back what a great record. defenders in div 2 were upset to see tjhe back of him because next time they might concede some goals.

strange sort of mumbled post I agree......like the response...very funni.....I would say that all of our first team squad could more than hold their own in the Rymans Premier, no disrespect to the teams already in there but I can't see that the standard is that much higher than that being played by the top six or so clubs in div i north and south...we shall see next year that's for sure....four of our youngsters have joined us from nationwide clubs and one has played in the premier league...with the enthusiasm and ability of the players from div 3 and the experience of the others..I see no reason to be fearful if we do get promoted....so....we are optimistic..we shall see.....as to Jonesy...well steve has always scored goals wherever he's been and now is no different......he'll score 35 this year and in some ways its harder for him down here...less space and well marked by eager to impress full backs....he gets kicked all over the place...never complains (well maybe a bit of ear ache for the ref)....and stills scores goals....everyone is entitled to an opinion but personally I think that he is a true, hardworking pro and an example to all budding strikers.......
