Three very bad defensive errors all from crosses and poor clearances. 0-3 down before we got going Marlon got one back on 70 mins but it was all too late .

Maldon beat Canvey a couple of weeks ago so it wasn't that much of a shock. Just one of them nights when nothing went right.

their league form has been poor and you guys have been doing really well EFCmick hence it being a shock to me. few of my pals play at maldon and they have been struggling of late.

In this league the clubs at the bottom are just as capable of turning over the sides at the top, It wasnt that much different last season either.

Enfield 1-3 Maldon Town

First opening for Es as Sherwin Stanley has a cross-shot deflected over Darren Gould's crossbar on 2 mins ,Another chance as Ricky Case puts in a well weighted cross and Sherwin Stanley heads narrowly wide . Maldon' first serious attack Craig Hattler cross and Paul Shave headed just wide .An amazingly wide free kick by Hattler (He Slipped)went over by the corner flag which bought a chorus of laughter from the stand. Dan Amfossy had to be off his line to deny Leon Antoine . And a good try by Sherwin Stanley almost caught out Darren Gould as the ball went just wide. A good interception by Gbenga Sonuga cut out Antoine's run. And Gary Henty had a fine drive saved by Amfossy from 20 yards out. A cross from Steve Wareham had Es under pressure but Gbenga Sonuga again cleared from his own six yard box. A free kick by Owen Beale saw Bret Donnelly & Marlon Stuart just failed to get a connection to divert the ball home as it flashed across in front of them .Another cross from Beale and Gould did very well to gather at Donnelly's feet. On 44 mins Maldon went ahead as a Louis Lancaster's clearence was blocked and the ball was crossed precisely for the waiting Paul Shave who took his chance from six yards to give Amfossy no chance.H/T

2nd Half ....Paul Oshin found himself booked for a late tackle on Shave. And on 47 mins Maldon went 2-0 up from another cross which was deflected onto the unfortunate Wes Borghys's shoulder and Steve Wareham rammed home the loose ball from 12 yards. It almost got worse for Es as Shave hit a tame effort straight at Amfossy ( he could have done better) (Dan Costelloe on for Lancaster 55 mins)Paul Shave was booked for crudely cutting down Ricky Case And then it did get worse for Es as yet another cross found its way into Es box this time it was deflected into the path of Keith Martin who couldnt believe his luck and he lashed home the loose ball 3-0 to Maldon and it was desevered . (Ricky Case off for Martin Young) A chance for Es as Donnelly had one saved by Gould . (Mark Whittington on for Oliver Stroud 65 mins) Es finally got one back as Owen Beale's corner found Marlon Stuart who headed home on 69 mins . Bret Donnelly had a great chance and somehow a Maldon body kept it out . A good run by Sherwin Stanley and a pass to Donnelly and his Lob over Gould saw Gary Henty clear off the line . Donnelly has a shot blocked by Ollie Blackwell and a chance for Marlon Stuart but he puts it wide(Kevin Hawse on for Leon Antoine for Maldon) Marlon Stuart and Gary Henty both booked for an off the ball skirmish (yohange Lewis On for Paul Shave) seconds from time.

A disappointing game for us but thats what happens at times.
