suspect 1. boreham wood. pro's-stability, two years now, players used to it. con's-too far from enfield, poor realationship with landlord.
suspect 2. hertford. pro's-nearer than boreham wood, good train links between enfield and hertford, possibility of hertford selling the ground. con's- ground has to upgraded from 'b' to 'a' (or enfield resign down a division) grade, ground quite run down.
suspect 3. cheshunt. pro's - near enfield, has been offered up for sale in past, lazarous original choice. con's- refusal of planning permission in past, hostile residents & council, ground again has to upgraded from 'b' to 'a' (or enfield resign down a division) grade.
suspect 4. bishops stortford. pros- bsfc need the money, enfield played home games there before with no problems, bsfc relegation on cards makes for more revenue problems next year. con's- proberbly too far to be realistic option
suspect 5. barnet. pros- only a bus ride away. cons- proberbly very expensive rent, bfc trying to show underhill is not a nuisance so unlikely to want a 2nd crowd arriving every other saturday.

make your choice by march mr chairman

I'd just add to suspect 2: 'ground on flood plain'.

I don't think that EFC will have to resign down a division as the team is surely well on the way already. Also, a 'crowd' of less than 100 is not going to trouble the Barnet residents too much.

Why shouldn't I point out, in a perfectly constructive and friendly manner, a valid point that the original poster has overlooked?

Next time I'll remember to log out first so that I too can be 'anonymous'.

Tom - you have prompted me to break eight months of silence.
Of course you are welcome to your opinion and the point that you made was a valid one. The picture of Hertford's ground in today's Mercury ( under two inches of water ) show's that a move there would be idiotic .
One reason that I have just 'observed' the various message boards since the split is that it seems impossibe to get any sensible football related debate going. Like the proverbial lemming I am still attending E's games (maybe 15 this season as opposed to my traditional 50) but apart from the obvious reasons that make this an increasingly soulless experience the fact that the voluable minority of fans on this board seem unprepared to behave with any respect for each other just makes things worse. I for one do not consider myself at war with ETFC. As for perceiving myself as a martyr for staying loyal to my team (as some seem to), on the contrary, I rather worry about my own sanity for aligning myself alongside the mix of egotists who hold sway at the club.

that feels better.....

With respect, Leftside, I don't think you'll find any abuse or disrespect for EFC or its fans on the ETFC board. Why would we?

Naturally a number of us visit this forum, and even ocassionally contribute. Sometimes there is a response as that above, on the lines of "mind your own business". Understandable, I suppose, but I can't recall any outbreaks of anything nasty other than a personal slanging match on one ocassion between two individuals which I gather had its origin before the split.

If I may be take the libery of chipping in on your board, I reckon EFC will be at Cheshunt next season, Barnet as second favourite. The others are either too wet or your chairman has upset them.

I am posting as "Anonymous" as I not at my computer and I can't remember the password for my "Degsey" user ID.

Personally, I fully welcome sensible debate by anyone who wishes (& cares) to contribute.... something that has sadly been missing for a while!

There only real thing that I take exception to is when slanging matches happen. This only shows immaturity - especially when 'anonymous' - and does not render any of the clubs concerned in a good light.

As I have said on numerous occassions - banter no problem!

I, like almost everyone else, have an opinion of (1) where we SHOULD be next season and (2) where I would like us to be.

I will share the 2nd ... I would personally like to see us at Cheshunt not because of the facilities and hospitality that would be afforded to us but purely for selfish reasons... it is nice and near to where I live. The only ground that is nearer is Waltham Abbey!

I won't provide you with my thoughts on the first as it could be taken out of context - you know how rumours are started.

BTW. Lee Endersby re-signed for us today.

Anonmously Degsey.

After the way your chairman treated BSFC when we were in your predicament, and again when he was renegotiating the rent with Joe pasquale I doubt our chairman would even entertain the thought of you lot sharing our ground.

As far as 'BSFC need the money' maybe you're living in the past a bit, though the sort of cash that Lazarou wanted when we needed a home ground would come in handy for any club!

STAT MAN (BSFC)

P.S Is tewwy back still a fruitcake?!?! [color:"blue"] [/color]

Re options 3 & 5- I can't imagine the locals will even know we are there (unless we're playing Aldershot). Any up to date news on this?(truth please!).

4th of Feb-Is this a very serious situation or are those with a gripe against TL (everybody!) just using this to wind us up? Any reliable info on clubs finances-I guess this might be a bit much too ask!

Also what is the status of Cockfosters ground? Is it 'b' grading ? Any other outside possibilities- Leyton,Hendon,Harlow! I remember reading a couple of years ago that the supporters trust had located numerous sites in Enfield for a new ground, any of them on existing grounds. One last question- there used to be a team called Southgate Athletic who played in the Spartan League.Does the team or ground still exist?

'tl will give them a big cheque'

The only problem is, the cheque will bounce, as with previous rent cheques.

Alledgedly.

Southgate Athletic used to play at the Tottenhall Road in Palmers Green. Their ground is pretty much how they left it - a pitch with crap drainage with a small shack on one side (bit like the one at Brimsdown). Though it's big enough, the site is probably a no-no due to the drainage - plus access is awful and it is surrounded by houses.

Why are teams that play in Borehamwood called Enfield? Sorry, cheap jibe, only joking lads!

Palmers Green was in the old Borough of Southgate. Southgate Town Hall was in fact in Green Lanes in Palmers Green, and is still used by LB Enfield, housing the Local History Unit among other things.

What was the Southgate team that used to play in the Spartan League? I recall watching Brimsdown Rovers play them, but I think that was in the park near Southagte Circus. The whole "stadium" was portable, with plastic netting fencing, the pitch surround being rope on road irons, and plyood dugouts that were carried out of a shed.
