Think he is talking to Northampton as well as Wolves. That would be quite a leap from the Conference to the Championship.

But doesn't Kightly's contract only allow for a move to a Championship or higher club?

The Press Release on Grays' site suggests "above Division 1" so I think it means above League 1, which is where Northampton are.

But saying that I suppose anyone offering that kind of money to take him away would be willing to negotiate.

Looks like a done deal with Wolves now, this is from the Grays forum.

Winger Trains At Compton

taken from http://www.wolves.premiumtv.co.uk

Michael Kightly will take part in his first training session at Compton today.

A deal to sign the Gray's winger on loan until January is expected to be completed tomorrow.

It is unlikely that Michael will be included in this weekend's squad to travel to Birmingham but boss Mick McCarthy will keep his options open.

"He will join us on loan until the transfer window and take part in training today," confirms Mick.

"It's probably too early to include him in the squad for Saturday but if he pulls up trees then we will take a view on it.

"He's a talented lad and will come here hungry to impress.

"The loan deal gives us a chance to take a good look at him.

Looks like another example of trying to build a club on one person's money. There are examples in Essex over the last few years that show this rarely works in the long term. Clubs need to find a level that they can sustain themselves within the limits of their gate. You only have to look at the ESL to see people throwing money at clubs without the support required for long term success.

Give it some thought, it takes an over sized ego or a proven record in cash management to take on a non-league club and run the business, first are you running that club for profit of pleasure.
If for both you will probably fail or be bored with the small returns.
If it is for pleasure you must be prepared to lose cash in an ever increasing stream as you progress up the leagues.
Rushden Diamonds are the prime example of a man running a non-league club for pleasure and doing it massively well, then his business was hit in the cash flow regions and we now have the best league set-up in the conference but looking to fall out of the conference.
The strength of non-league is the self supporting clubs but they may never fly as high as the temporary glory gained by private money.

Mick Woodward announced on BBC Essex that he is now manager of Grays, until at least the end of the season. He won't be appointing an assistant.

I am sure Grays will do really well under his management. I mean, just look at his pedigree!

He hasn`t stayed in charge long!

Due to Business and personal reasons Mike Woodward has today installed Andy King as first team manger at Grays Athletic, Mike Woodward will revert back to his Chairman role at the club.

Andy King was formely at Swindon Town Football Club, he was a scout under Peter Reid at Sunderland and he has played for Luton, Everton, QPR, West Bromwich Albion, Wolves and Aldershot.

Justin Edinburgh appointed as assistant manager.

Grays Athletic have appointed Justin Edinburgh as Assistant Manager, Justin had distinguished career as a player with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth and Southend, he was recently manager at Conference South side Fisher Athletic.

Grays have signed ex Everton striker Danny Cadamarteri. Remember when he broke on to the scene around the same time as Francis Jeffers, he was supposed to be the next big thing.

Decent signing.

Putting (allegedly) after a libellous post does not protect you from a writ. If I was you I would delete your post unless you hav clear evidence!

You have not stated opinion and you cannot claim fair comment!

I tell you what, someone PM me something libelous to say and I'll post it...

That isn't to do with Canvey or Hornchurch, preferably. Don't want to stir up any more bad feeling. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
