If you go down to the Wood today
There's sure to be a surprise ....

The E's v Bishop's Stortford in yet another 6-pointer. How many times have I had to use that phrase during the last couple of weeks?

Anyway, I digress... Get to the Wood and cheer the lads on to the 3 points that we need. Potential debuts for Lee Endersby and Mark Palmer are on the agenda.

No ETFC game likely today, so I would love to go to see the E's again for a change. But to be honest, after all the bickering here I wonder what kind of an anti-reception I would get.

WHAT A SUPRISE.....another enfield home game,another 2.00pm posponement.

A final pitch inspection should take place at 1.00pm..1.30 at the latest...the condition of the pitch is not going to change between 1.00 and 2.00 o'clock..as proved today.

Here's some advice for EFC officials....1..pressure the referee to make a FINAL dicision on the pitch, preferabaly BEFORE the away team have to travel, but definately BEFORE the home fans have to..(ie).. no later than 1.30.
.2..make sure the postponment gets on teletext a.s.a.p.
.3..MOST importantly...one of you, make sure a message go's up on the forum straight away.

another example of the (remaining) fans being treated with contempt.

I'm not blaming Derek for not getting the postponement online because he was already on his way when it was called off. I agree with Towner that our officials should seek a postponement if it is unlikely to go ahead. After all, I've noticed Town get 9.30 pitch inspections and ALWAYS have postponement information online very quickly.

Derek cannot do all this on his own. Is there nobody else with HTML knowledge that can spare a little time, and could put a few warning notes on the website to say the game might be in doubt?

The only person (supporters excluded as I cannot speak for them) who DIDN'T want to play was the ref.

Sorry, forgot to include the two linos!

yesterday's game was the second home match in 2 weeks that i tried to attend....first time,i got half way before i found out it had been cancelled.
yesterday we were informed as we walked up to the turnstile.

AS SUCH..i think i have every right to feel aggrieved, and to make suggestions on how to rectify the problem in future.

I know support Enfield town(thanks to laz)...but still go to watch the old team, when the town are not playing.

after recent events, and the attitude of people on this forum...I may think twice. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

I travelled by train to watford, bus to borehamwood for this game - total cost £20 appx + food and I must say I wasn't exactly best pleased when I got to the ground, especially when that morning someone at the club told me it was 100% on!
I don't want to see E's go under-as far as I'm concerned everyone should be made to feel welcome at our games & towner you raised some important points. I have not felt connected to the club in any sense (apart from the team & fans) for a long time now. for example the club website needs more work, the board seem unapproachable, the chairman doesn't give a damn, no attempts to recruit new fans, entice ex- supporters back, match info too difficult to get hold of, the programme is not as good as other clubs etc, etc. If a club works on these things then people will come.

Mark,

Next time you're at the wood or, indeed, an away game, come over and see me - I'm not that hard to find - and I will gladly discuss them with you or anyone else for that matter.

We have tried to address a number of these issues but, unfortunately, no response has been forthcoming.

Derek

Del, I guess it is frustrating for a man in your position ?

What steps can you take to supply or have supplied the information that quite a few people need ?

You do tend to get slagged for not updating things - unjustly so as per your previous posts on work commitments (who else would do it ?)

I think the board owe you a bit more support - it is an understatement to say that quite a few things need sorting out.

Just a few points I have noted from the messages above.

ETFC game will go off earlier than FC games as the Ryman League require a top level Ryman Referee to call games off and the Essex Senior only require a local Referee and he is more likly to know the condition of the pitch and may have inspected it before so good call a game off earlier.

A club cannot make a referee call a game off earlier Cheshunt game last week was called on at 1.00 by the Assistant on the match and then off by the match referee when he arrived at 2.00.

Whitham Supporters complained about having to travel but there manager earlier in the day had told me he was happy to travel and leave a decision as late as possable.

As for going to game and finding they are off why dont you boys get hold of Dels number I wont give it to you on here but its available in handbooks and directories so i am sure he will give it to you if you ask.

That way you can get direct answers about the pitch and games going on and off.

On the updating the web-site, how is Del surposed to do that when he is at the club in Borehamwood and lives in Enfield.

When matches go off in the Ryman league club inform the League and they pass information onto the media club do not directly contact Teletex

Rather than moaning all the time offer to help, things cannot always get done when you want then to be, Rules apply and have to be followed and sometimes Supporters dont get counted into the equasion by the rules.

Please accept my apologies Degsy, i was just trying to make a general point about how some fans can feel alienated from club. It wasn't my intention to be critical of individuals. I've taken your points on board Freebird,I'll see what I can do.

as regards game vs. B.Stortford I understand games get called off at short notice and I think I shouldn't really have relied too much on being told the game was DEFINITELY on.I need to leave by 11.30 to make most E's games on time so there is always a risk.

Is it annoying having games called off at the last minute, especially when you've called the club b4 you set out. It happened to me a couple of weeks ago, but considering the situation at the club and the lack of help, it does seem understandable even if it's not ideal.

What would seem sensible is to have the clubline in working order. You don't need a computer, anyone at can access it, most people have a mobile and could re-check on route & a match official could easily leave a message.

No offence taken mate.

The really frustrating thing about the BS game is that EVERYONE apart from the match official(s) wanted it played. We presented a number of alternative sugestions but none were acceptable to him. To be fair, he IS reposnsible for the players once they are on the pitch and he felt that due to the condititions he could not guarentee their safety.

I know how you must feel about unnessary travelling - it's the same for all of us - and I'm there!.

The game before, it was a bit wet. And what happened as soon as the ref went out to do his inspection ? The heavens opened. Not helpful!!!!

Don't forget, also, that even when the game is off, we still incurr match expenses!

If anyone wants a number to get me, I have one which is for use only on match days - just ask.

Degsey
