A team that plays in Ware is not The Enfield FC that I knew and loved. That club is dead and gone and cannot be revived. There are some who cannot seem to mourn the dead and get over their grief. They cling to a history as if it was a shroud and the name a relic.

Many of us have moved on and dont want to link up with a corpse.
<img src="/forum/images/graemlins/afro.gif" alt="" />Excuse me, because you load of anoraks jumped ship and started a new club, how can you cane the people that stayed and battled to keep the real Enfield football club in existance, if the anoraks and window lickers of ETFC had put their efforts into the real Enfield you might have reached the level that the famous and glorious Enfield fc once played at, what really grates with some of you ETFC ANORAKS AND WINDOW LICKERS is that a few brave and dedicated Enfield supporters wanted to fight to save their beloved club while the rest of you run away, who is still in the trophy with a lucrative away draw, and on your tail in the league, I think the real Enfield fc is far from finished and with them real brave fans it never will be, so get over it because the real Enfield fc are here to stay. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/chloe.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/chloe.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/chloe.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/chloe.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/chloe.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/chloe.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/chloe.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

Enfield FC supporters voted overwhelminly to form another club that would continue to play in Enfield, only after all hope of playing in Enfield had gone (The Stadium/money/fanbase had also gone by then).

Many believe that Town would have reformed back as EFC,soon after Lazarou had gone. The formantion of Town sealed lazarous departure soon after. The 13% of Enfield fans who ignored the wishes of the vast majority of their fellow fans stuck with EFC AND Lazarou.Once Lazarou has left, four EFC people decided to keep the club running.Once again, that killed off any hope of ETFC quickly reforming as a new EFC run by the fans.(Aldershot reformed in 1993 after Aldershot FC went bust, and were called 'Aldershot 1993' FC.They quickly mearged back into being Aldershot FC.If some fans had tried to keep the original Aldeshot FC going. There would have been two clubs there, and the same sort of mess we currently see now in Enfield.

Which is more than you can say of Leyton.
If only you could buy job-lots of football supporters at auctions, instead of old wembley turnstiles.

Have to disagree Steph, the Enfield FC I supported for 30 odd years is alive & on the up, yes they are playing at a diffrent ground but so what, what else could they do after what happened to the stadium in Southbury road?

Yes the stadium is dead & gone but then so is Highbury, Roker Park, The Dell, Baseball ground etc etc, but the clubs AND their history live on & remember all memories good & bad are safely kept in each individuals mind to relive & enjoy like we are doing on this thread.

I disagree with Steph as well .I have no gripe with E F C and I would like to apologise for Steph and a very small handful of other people from ETFC that continue to keep this picking away stuff going .It does embarrass me to see this load of old crap coming up every so often . I get very narked when I hear on occasions enfield this and brimmo that and Leyton the other ,Why cant we just do the thing thats most important and support our clubs . And General why use this name when it stands out like a sore thumb that your Lovely Stuff you are one very sad person mate ,

Hats off to you guys at EFC for doing so well in the cups thus far and I do hope you pull off a miracle next week . Not all us Towners are bad people . Good Luck.

Didn't realise lovely stuff was four year off his pension. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />.....Is he?

I've only been connected to the web for a few months ,although i have been supporting Town on and off since the start.I read the forum for several weeks before registering, and seem to remember 'out of Towner' posting some controversial and antagonistic posts recently. To now come over so self satisfied and santamonious ,does seem a bit rich.

I was personally responding to our Leyton friend ,who disparaged, belittled, and abused YOUR club AND its supporters.

Maybe your havn't got the backbone to stand up for your club, or defend your decision to leave EFC.Or maybe you wish to hold your tongue. That choice is yours,of course.Just don't come high and mighty about those who are prepared to do so.

PS.. My grievance was with Nickynoc, and i put my points across in order to convince him how idiotic his post was, rather than it being meant as a pop at current EFC fans, who number many decent ,honest, and hardworking people amonst their ranks. Some of whom i still know very well ,and totally respect.

I will respond to insults aimed at the Town but much is provoked by some Towners who seem to be more interested in the running of E F C ,Brimmo and any misfortune connected with Leyton . Its no wonder fans of other clubs view us as arogant and find our club unpopular we dont seem to give out the right impression as regards our club ,Just for the record I still carry a torch for E F C Its always the first result I look for and deep down theres always going to be a part of E F C within . Only lovely stuff would type such a post as this SO WHY USE THIS NAME ? Why dont "YOU" have the backbone to post in your original name instead of using pathetic psuedenom's to get your bitter & twisted rants across ?

I think you're barking up the wrong tree.I don't wish to reveal my real name on an open forum, suffice to say that quite a few Town fans know me as ------MasterGeneral.Next time you're in the Brimo bar,ask around and someone will point me out.

Maybe you can explain to me why you came on these forums all bluster and controversy, but have suddenly turned into a saint of moderation and inclusiveness.

Your not alone there OOT, I do exactly the same & I think you will find there is a very large percentage of the Town faithful exactly the same mate.

the more i see threads like this, the more i realise there isn't going to be any reunification of the two Clubs.

Enfield, playing out in Ware, with no sway either in the Enfield Council Chambers or in the electorate, will just exist whilst it's followers are still alive.
Dwindling away as the years go by, unable to replenish it's stock of supporters as it has no relivance to it's locality. If it has to rely entirely on current supporters taking their offspring to games with them in the hope they will carry the torch, then they are finished. No Club can exist purely as a glorified family business. No Club, that is that intends to compete rather than just exist for the sake of existing.
That's all I see Enfield FC's role is now. Looking back at scrapbooks and old photographs and sighing.
The current Club set-up is incapable of taking themselves any further without the appearance of a Lazarou-type director with total control of the Clubs finances. As the Club have no assets, other than their status as an Isthmian league Club, no Lazarou-type character would would be interested in investing in them as all they have to offer are bills. If they are hoping for a charitable millionare then they'll be waiting a long time. So all that's left are the few souls plodding on with quiz nights and raffles to cover the wages this week. No new blood will come in, only the curious and recycled.

Enfield Town have a purpose. To provide the borough of Enfield with spectator orientated football. That is why they must play their home games within the borough boundary. If they don't, what is the point? If the people of Enfield wish to travel to watch football then they can take their pick and go anywhere within greater London. The name 'Enfield' only makes sense when it's IN Enfield.
Youngsters are found and brought along to ETFC games. Its an alive and growing Club. Not one that's being forced to continue as its shadow up in Ware is.

Enjoy the photos of Southbury Road - its all thats really left.

The real Enfield - Dont make me laugh.

71 at Tilbury the week before an important Trophy game how many would Enfield have taken to Tilbury 20 years ago during a good cup run?

BTW ETFC had 152 at Tilbury in August!

As I said some dont want to mourn and get over their grief.

Still I suppose thats an unfair comparison as EFC had much further to go to get to Tilbury than Enfield Town.

As for the rest of you go back through the posts and see who started slagging me off.

Football fanatic,

"what do u mean the club that calls it self Enfield ? WE ARE ENFIELD FC, Enfield FC never went out of business so have always had the name. so what if currently we dont play in Enfield ? I live in Enfield. We were Enfield FC then and we are still Enfield FC now. Now go back to the enfield town forum and stay there."

BTW what do you call yourselves if not Enfield.

Steph,
I don't know you or have any idea who you are
But some of your comments on here are uncalled for.
We all know the history and the great teams that EFC produced over the years, why can't you just add your memories of Enfield FC like the thread suggests and keep you childish comments to yourself.

Because memories are just that and their only purpose is to add to experience.

Wallowing in nostalgie is sentimental self-indulgence.

It is the future that matters not the past!

You still don't get it do you <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

This thread is about real EFC supporters memories of southbury road and the players that played there.
It has nothing to do with the Split, Do you have any memories/storys of Enfield FC?
