Essex Senior Cup game. Would be nice to have a good run in this competition.

Will be a tough game as Brentwood are doing well in the ESL.

Who's going tomorrow night?

Not going myself but after reading the Brentwood website and with more rain forecast i have doubts the game will be on.

Weather beaten Blues ray of sunshine

The weather plays a big part in most outdoor sports, and is at present playing havoc with the fixtures schedules at Brentwood Town Football Club.

Blues’ chairman Keith Woodcock says “The amount of rain that we have had of late has caused us some real problems at the Brentwood Arena and we have had three first team games and one reserve team game called off due to waterlogged pitches. Our groundsman Ian McGowan does a wonderful job, but even he cannot beat the elements”.

Last Saturday's game against Bowers and Pitsea was called off due to the rain but there is a ray of sunshine coming through the clouds. Keith explains “Barking FC have been chasing our top spot and have been giving us a run for our money. We have been sitting at the top with a two point lead and a game in hand for much of the season and were really concerned when the Bowers game was off. However, Barking were beaten by Hullbridge Sports who scored the only goal in the 90th minute, and that now puts the Blues two points clear, and with two games in hand”.

Everyone at the club is hoping that tomorrow night's Essex Senior Cup game with Ryman Division One Canvey Island will go ahead. This attractive tie may well draw the best crowd of the season to the Brentwood Centre. kick off is at 7.45pm.

If you are driving it would be best to take the A128 from the A13 and follow the road all the way into Brentwood. Straight across the roundabout in Brentwood town centre. You go past a pub called the Rising Sun on your left and then about 150 yards further on, turn right down the Doddinghurst Road. The road bends under the A12 and the Centre is on the right. Big car park there. The 128 is a good road and avoids the pratfalls that is the M25 during rush hour...

Tis a pub desert around the ground, but as you like your bitter there is a pub on the left just as you enter the Ongar Road..(about 400yards before you turn right for the ground) called the dur forgot the name, but it's an Abbot house. Always did a mean real ale in my beer days. Set back in the houses, but a nice place.
