Road Pricing Proposal

Recommended Posts

It was stated on the news this morning (27th November 2006) one of the reasons this proposal has been suggested was to raise money for possible road building and improvements to existing roads.

It should be noted: all the money currently collected by the DVLA for road fund licences, only 23% - 24% is actually spent on road building and improvements!

The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it.

The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and

£194 for a delivery driver.

A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month.

On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked.

Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect an NIP with your monthly bill.

If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website

Once I would have agreed with that, but we now live in such a sick f*cked up world that even a short walk to school, or even the bus stop, is fraught with danger.

If the parent has time they should walk their sprogs to school, assuming it's within walking distance.

I certainly agree with the sentiment about kids being driven to school. A lot of those parents are the same ones who self-righteously bleat about "green" issues and 4x4's - those that don't drive huge Mitsubishi 4x4s to school that is....

However I definitely do NOT agree with this ludicrous extra tax. How many times do we have pay tax? YOur income is taxed in the first place. You pay tax when you buy a car. Most of your petrol/diesel cost is tax. You pay road tax to even park on a road. I think you even pay tax on the insurance. Now, how does it workin France for example... yep, no road tax at all, it's all done via the tax on fuel, which means the more you use the more you pay. The twist is, fuel is still cheaper there than it is here.

This is yet another example of the government trying to sneak a hefty tax in by claiming it is green, environmentally friendly and will solve congestion. Baloney. Tosh and piffle. It's a way of putting taxes up without losing votes.

I will certainly be signing the petition, not that it will do any good. We need the people to cry "enough" and let them know we will not stand for it, like the poll tax.
