I'm told we budget for a gate of 300 but I think we should amend the business model to 250 fans and see how that effects the financial projections.

Town’s average this season is just over 300! This is pretty good considering we missed out on promotion last season. Distractions caused by blanket coverage of Premiership games via the Arabic channels make it even harder to tempt fans along to Goldsdown Road.

If you look up to the Conference North and South you’ll find ten teams who have a lower average than ours. In the Ryman Premier, Southern League Premier, SL Midlands, SL South & West, most of the teams fail to reach Town’s average gate for this R1N season. If we do get it right on the pitch this season and reach the promised land of the Ryman Premier, our attendances will receive a massive boost with greater travelling support throughout 2007/08.

Imagine the scene if we had gained promotion last season? My bet is that we would be looking forward to a Boxing Day visit from AFC Wimbledon and their huge band of loyal supporters. Hopefully AFC Wimbledon will fail to gain promotion this season so we can meet them in 2007/08.

There are 17 teams in the Ryman Premier with less crowds on average than ETFC. If this is the case, then surely our gates will not receive a 'massive boost' if we went up because there are probably less travelling fans from those clubs who would want to make the trip to Brimmo!

We must concentrate on getting Enfield people down to Brimmo and offer them something which they enjoy and make them feel wanted at the same time. Your posters are just one means of communicating our message. Let's start thinking about what else we can all do.

Personal opinion here so I don't expect many to agree but some have alluded to it:

The question of competence has been mentioned by some - the three resignees mentioned are all passionate about what they do but based on what I know about these three individuals, I would say that (let's be kind) they often open their mouth before engaging their brain to varying degrees. Nothing against them for their commitment to the club but I would say (personal opinion again) that those on the board are less likely to show our club in a negative manner than those that have gone.

The so-called "inner circle" are suited and booted as they represent our club at board level and do so with great aplomb.

Nomination from me: Dukey is the man!

If any of the resignees want to put the record straight, do so - don't skirt around the issues, just give us the facts.

Then you explain on here where I have been party to 'opening my mouth before engaging my brain to varying degrees'. Let's not forget that there have been more than three members stand down from the board since 2001.

How about this post for starters! You demonstrate here your incredible ability to fly off the handle and attack someone who has posted an opinion - I note you failed to answer the question raised but are happy to have a frequent self-congratulatory whinge without a constructive comment for the club. Your commitment to the club goes without saying but (as Harry Enfield once said) "Know your limits" All respect to RhymenReason for posting his response in an honest and open way - you could learn a lot from him...

Maybe you were a resignee I referred to as "to a lesser extent" but your response appears to imply otherwise.

Horse's Mouth speaks a lot of sense - if you couldn't stand the heat, you should have kept out of the kitchen. As he says, "Put up or shut up"

As I said before 'where have I been party to opening my mouth before engaging my brain to varying degrees'. That was the question. I certainly did not 'fly off the handle and attack someone who had posted their opinion'. Mind you, it appears you seem to know more about myself and the other two than we do of you so why not let us know who you are and we can have a chat?

Actually, the first comment needing a response (though admittedly this was not a question) was

"If any of the resignees want to put the record straight, do so - don't skirt around the issues, just give us the facts."

If you want to chat, I'm here and listening - you seem keen to have things open and are set against keeping things confidential and cliquey so here's your chance to chat openly....so chin up, straight bat and over to you, old chap...

Call me a big old silly if you will, but in what way has Andy "flown off the handle" or "attacked someone"? As I read it, he inferred that he was one of three people who "often open their mouth before engaging their brain" and he quite reasonably and politely asked for examples of such behaviour.

The repsonse to this request could perhaps be described as flying off the handle!

And as I suggested above, repeating "put up or shut up" is hardly likely to endear any administrative or executive body to its electorate and, in my opinion, is wholly counter to the spirit and ideals of this club. It is rather more akin to the ethos of another club that used to play in the borough, in its final years. (No slur whatsoever intended to that club at present).

I disagree Invisible One.

We have heard numerous mention of a so called Inner Circle within the club. My opinion is that these so called Inner Circle members have to be voted in by the supporters. If Society members are unhappy about the Inner Circle they have the ability if they so wish to vote them out.

So what I am saying is if "Outer Circle" members want to change the direction of the club then they should stand for election to the board en mass at the next opportunity.

It really is a case of "put up or shut up"

So are you saying that only those supporters willing to stand for election to the board, can comment and give opinions as to how the club is run? I'm not keen on this put up-or-shut up arguement.

By the same defintion, are the general public only allowed to have views and opinions on the Prime Minister and his cabinet IF they themselves are willing to stand against him for office?

I personally don't have a problem with the board.I thank them all for their time and effort put into the club and the progress we have made both on and off the field in the last five years.

I am slightly concerned that at least 3 baordmembers in that time have seen fit to resign, over their working relationship with other members of the board. But i have no idea who is at fault (if anybody) orwhether the situation is down to simpler factors such as having too big a boardroom structure.

You cannot vote board members out. You can only vote board members in. If there are not enough society members standing for election then those board members standing for re-election are automatically elected. you may put the point that if you are not happy then you should stand. However, there are plenty of fans who do have certain views on how the club is run who just do not have the time to give to act as a director. that does not mean that they should not have a point of view or make comments. At the end of the day, the board should answer to the society members and not the members to the board.

I actually think that Southport and Rymanreason have summed it up rather well.

Still open for a chat, especially as matters posted on here can be taken out of context.

I am set against keeping things confidential for the sake of the members of the Society but that's not something I can change.
