The statement on the Grays website makes interesting reading, how far will they need to drop to be able to play within their own means?

Mike Woodward, The Chairman of Grays Athletic FC, has taken the decision to step down from his position on 8th June 2009 at the clubs AGM.

This follows comments made by supporters at the Histon game last evening which were directed at The Chairman implying he was no longer wanted at the club along with other recent rumours that continue to surround him.

Mike would like to thank all the loyal supporters who have stood by him since his arrival at the club and would like all of them to know that he is leaving due to a minority element who seem intent on destroying his tenure at GAFC.

Before standing down The Chairman wants to go on record that he will leave the club in a financial position that will allow the club to function within its own means which in turn will determine which level the club plays at and that emotionally and financially he feels he can not continue anymore.

Mike will continue to hold his GAFC shares and Directorship in order to safeguard his investments made since arriving at Grays and feels that the 8th June 2009 will be a very sad day for him.

Finally comments made by Mike Woodward to NLP following the Histon match stand which he feels sums up the entire situation
