Today's match is definitely on after the ref gave the go ahead following a pitch inspection.

Game abandoned after 56 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch. Score at the time was 0-0.

Those of you who where there, well done. Those of you who weren't - shame on you, and you don't know what you missed.

Will the result stand?

Wouldn't have minded normally but I got off my sick bed to go to this game. sick

the result wont stand that only happens after 80 minutes and you dont get a refund or get in free to the next game as it went past half time. not sure if there will be much in the way of highlights, just some very very wet footage

You what?! They're taking the mickey! Last time I checked football matches played to ninety minutes and todays didn't. On entry we were told if it's called off we'll be able to get in for free at the replay.

I think it was meant that if the game were to be called off, without getting started, you would get a refund. I believe you also get a refund if the game is called off within the first 30 minutes. After that, you have to accept that the club still has to meet all its expenses for playing (even for 56 minutes). Players will want wages, officials will want their fees, energy costs still have to be met, etc., etc.

I remember going to Hampton & Richmond in the hectic end of season run-in of 2001. Game called off, no refund and we had to go back 2 days later and got beaten. From memory we played 6 games in 10 days.
