Tonights Game- vs. Cambridge United

A good well rounded performance by Canvey tonight, that boasted two Chelmsford City players in the starting line-up.

Gave our squad players a good run out and brought the likes of Wall, Lamb and Blewer some match practise.

Mel's still got it between the sticks, pulling off some great saves and Lucky's goal was a peach. Canvey could've won it in the final quarter with Nicky Rugg, Matt Reade and Alexis Lafon each going close.

Despite the rain i really enjoyed tonights game. I thought our players along with our "guests" played some great attacking football early on and we should have taken an early lead against Cambridge.

Cambridge got stronger as the game went on and probably deserved to go in ahead at h/t. We started 2nd/h well with Bourne putting in some great crosses but the ball wouldn`t go into the net, Cambridge then started to attack our goal again and it looked like we would pay for missing our earlier chances until Luck hit a shot from outside the box which caught the keeper out and trickled over the line.

Both sides had chances later on with Capleton making some great saves. Thank god that "old" Wayne Purser didn`t get a chance to score the winner or this forum and the club in general wouldn`t hear the end of it eek

A good workout for our players especially for the ones who have not played recently.
