Enfield 1-3 AFC Hornchurch

A reasonably quiet start for the first 10 mins until Jim McFarlane climbed all over Martin Standon .And from Owen Beale's freekick Dale Brightley did well to punch the ball clear whilst under the attention of Martin Standon. First chance for Urchins as Gary Cross fires over the E's bar on 18 mins , An overhead kick by Ainsley Gasper flew across E's area without any Hornchurch player able to knock it home. But on 23 mins Hornchurch went ahead as Danny Glozier puts over a precise ball for Jim McFarlane to steal in and head home from six yards. A chance for E's as Brightley rushes out to head away from just outside his box as Martin Standen bore down on him. Urchins Dave Sadler bought a good save from Paul Daley (He was to be in for a busy afternoon) Hornchurch were now bossing the game and on 41 mins it was 2-0 to Hornchurch ,E's Nick Turner sliced a clearence out to Dave Sadler who sent in a low cross for Ainsley Gasper to ram home from close range. E's responded with Owen Beale's freekick which was met by Jon Stevenson but his header lacked the strength to trouble Brightley who claimed the ball .Amos Foyewa's freekick was met by Dave Sadler and Paul Daley made another good save.Gasper fires one over in stoppage time. H/T

Dean Thomas was booked in the opening moments for a foul (It was to be significant later on) Owen Beales corner fell to Gbenga Sonuga but he couldn't guide his header past brightley.(E's sub Neil Hughes on for Gbenga Sonuga) On 61 mins Enfield were thrown a lifeline as Jamie Southon made a clumbsy challenge on Dean Thomas and Referee Mr McGill pointed to the spot, Martin Standon blasted it home via an upright 1-2 . Good work by Owen Beale & neil Hughes cut into the Urchins box but the final ball across went astray . Jon Stevenson put in a powerful shot but McFarlane did well to block it out. (E's sub Martin Young on for Sammy Judge) Paul Daley again makes a good save this time denying Amos Foyewa. But on 69 mins E's were caught out and Amos Foyewa got the better of Louis Lancaster and his cross to the back post was met by Alex Fiddes who made no mistake ,3-1 to Urchins. Neil Hughes shoots narrowly wide for E's (hornchurch sub (Gary cross off for Andy Tomlinson).Paul Daley again saves this time from McFarlane's header. (Hornchurch sub Dave Sadler off for Dave Collins) Martin Standon was put in with a chance but his effort was well held by Dale Brightley (Hornchurch sub Ainsley Gasper off for Shane Oakley .Martin Standon's cross just lacked a final touch as E's were trying to claw something back . A 2nd booking for Dean thomas for dissent saw him sent off on 86 mins (It was a bit harsh on him ) Another good save by Daley this time keeping Shane Oakley's effort out. The last chance fell to Neil Hughes who dragged a shot wide for E's .

Thanks to all who took part in the raffle All three prizes were won by visiting supporters ,Simon Philpot winning the scotch ,and Annie hodginson claiming a bottle of wine .sorry forgot the 2nd prize winners name.

E's are nursing a few knocks at the moment with Gbenga Sonuga ,Sammy Judge & Nick Turner recalled into the starting line up today . Wesley Borghys hopes to be back in a couple of weeks ,he has a badly sprained ankle. Mark Whittington should be back soon.
