I'm interested and I know that you are Mr Rob. You're just trying to be coool.

My Dad's friend says "Is Rob going to get to a game this season? He's nearly as bad as that Webbo chap"
Anyway. We will win 3-0, Bignal will score first, and 278 people will be watching.
WAAAYTOOOGOSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINNTTTTSSSSSSSSS

The only "value" on Saturday was an incident late in the second half.
A second-rate Kingstonian side were 4 up, seemingly cruising to a 5 or 6 nil victory, and their back line, having been stretched playing for Kingston Secondary Modern School U16's against Reigate Grammar in the morning [they won 2-1, a late winner by Pevsner], were pinching themselves to believe that it was this straightforward in the Ryman Premier League. Keys, probably the best keeper in the Ryman this season, was then taken by surprise by the first of two shots on target from super-sub Simon.
That local hack who writes for The Observer, not widely known for his wit and repartie, called out: "Bang goes the clean sheet bonus then, Keeps".
Well. That was the highlight of the day for me, but then I have that sense of humour. Can't speak for the other Saints fans left in the ground, though.
[Doh. Wrong thread. Sorry]

Still seeking inspiration for tomorrow and the run-in to the title.
I just wanted to check Rule 72[A][d]. Is the point for the attendance figure, the official attendance before half-time or after those ejected have been deducted?

Much comedy mileage being taken from Saturday's events... has anybody yet sorted out the legal difference between a pastie and a pie yet? I am most curious to know. Glad also to note that an awfully large number of people are happy enough to draw their own conclusions about various members of EFM may or may not be like without referring to what actually happened on Saturday. So far as I was aware, it was something like this - one member of EFM ejected after 10 minutes for carrying alcohol inside the ground. Two further members of EFM ejected at half-time for... standing next to him? I didn't realise that standing next to somebody carrying alcohol inside a football ground was an offence that carries expulsion from the ground as a penalty. One complete innocent expelled from the ground (who hadn't been drinking and hadn't travelled to the game with EFM). Good also to see that there was so much vocal support for these people from the other City supporters there.
Goodness me - complaints about swearing in a football ground... pies/pasties that could have been bottles... carrying a two litre bottle of cider with intent to drink it... what will these evil individuals get up to next? Frankly, I'm just about sick of it. I go to more or less every match whether I can afford to or not. I walked to Borehamwood the other week. I turn up in the pouring rain and, depending on the mood of the people I'm with, I'll sing and holler and drink with the best of them. I don't fight - never have done. Not interested.
Because of the people I go with (whom I know considerably better than the Canvey, Kingstonian and City fans who slate them, and know to be slightly over-exuberant but basically good-natured), I feel marginalised to the point where I don't even particularly know whether I want to go and support City any more. Kind of seems a pity after twenty-odd years, but after the looks I was getting from some of the people at Kingsmeadow for having the temerity to turn up with the other EFM boys on Saturday... we all make sacrifices for our club - monetary and in terms of the time we put into the club. Seems almost needless to point out that the atmosphere was the worst that I can remember at a City away match for years, even before it started raining Kingstonian goals early in the second half.
People who know me should know fully well that I won't defend EFM's worse excesses. They will also know that I'm pretty sure that one of these days they'll get a kicking from somebody, and they'll only have themselves to blame. Having said that, the people who know me, and the people who know EFM, will know that the whole "firm" thing is a joke. On Saturday, a sizeable proportion of City fans couldn't even defend EFM members when they hadn't even done anything seriously wrong. Shame on them, and thanks to people who did try to help and have offered support since then.
Tuesday's Prediction
City 0 Boreham Wood 2
Att: 150
Only a few weeks ago, the club was begging people to show up...

Hi Trev.
I should first declare an interest. I am an honorary member of EFM and they don't give those away like air miles. I have said nothing about Saturday so far as I was interested to see the reactions, too.
I can't speak about the Pukka Pie incident as I wasn't at The Park when the team coach left. However, if a pie was thrown, due to foolish high spirits or whatever, whoever was involved should be man enough to apologise to the Chairman of The Supporters Club chap and The Managers and let that be an end to it. [What was intended to be for dessert, by the way?]
At the game, Anthony arrived at 3.05 with a two litre bottle of beer. Two minutes later, 2 stewards appeared and politely confistcated it. Anthony was never aggressive and not as loud as he can be. The Firm were subdued. Another member was drinking from a can 10 minutes later, Anthony had a swig, and the same stewards appeared again. They immediately asked him to leave the ground and he refused. They said that if he didn't leave they would call the police. He didn't, they did.
A discussion took place with the stewards concerning ground regulations. Never aggressive but much too late. Once they had asked him to leave and he refused, there was only going to be one outcome. The police were obviously very busy keeping the streets of Kingston free from crime and didn't arrive until half-time. I didn't see the incidents at the gate but I was astonished to hear that two others had been ejected with him. I know for a fact that Mark had been drinking only Coke before the game.
Sad and stupid. O.K. so he shouldn't have had alcohol with him. So confistcate it. Yes, twice if necessary. He was neither verbally nor physically offensive. [These people should try stewarding the side gate at The Park if they want real action.] So why throw him out? It all got instantly out of all proportion. Complete over-reaction. Blame? 85%+ the fault of the stewards. No humour. Just rules and they are there to impose them. No leeway. Just rules.

Like most of our team on Saturday, the stewards had a very bad day at the office.
It happened. There will be no recriminations. It's done. It's over.
As to the others, I can't speak because I didn't see it but I will be interested to hear.
[Oh, by the way. If entrance money is refunded, I might try to get ejected after 85 minutes if we carry on playing like we did on Saturday. Have we had a ruling on that one yet?]
Prediction:
Saints 2, Woood 1
