Maybe, I thought we had the better chances and on another day Hughsy would have bagged a hat-trick.

Potters Bar 0-1 Enfield

A quiet first 10 mins as both sides were probing for an opening and it was Neil Hughes who had the opening effort but he rushed his shot wide when he had time to tee up. Sherwin Stanley on 14 minutes also put wide , Dean Gilbert was very alert to clear away two quick raids in succession from the potters bar forwards . Wes Borghys had to head a dangerous ball clear as Nicky Winger & Richard Howard looked threatening ,On 28 mins Martin Young was next in defensive action as he did well to head clear as Richard Howard was waiting to pounce.Owen Beale's cross was almost met by Neil Hughes but the ball was clanced clear by a defenders leg and this was just enough to divert it away from him.
Sherwin Stanley was put clear and from the edge of the area his shot beat Richard Hayward but the ball found the side netting.
Nicky Winger almost got away from his markers but he lost control of the ball and his chance was lost . And in the closing moments of the half a Richard Howard shot was well held by Matt Mann. H/T

2nd half on 49 mins an excellant double save by Matt Mann denies Richard Howard . On 54 mins Neil Hughes jinked his way into Potters Bar's area but from a promising position and with only Hayward to beat he spooned his shot over the bar.A shot by Dean Thomas was narrowly over P B T's bar . On 72 mins Hughes again broke clear into P B T's box but this time his shot went agonisingly wide. (P B T subs Michael Toner & Charlie Moxom on for Michael Black & Phil Turner) A wayward shot by Daniel Talbot was well wide and then on 78 mins E's went ahead as Sherwin Stanley whipped in a low cross and a deft flick by Neil Hughes saw him wrongfoot his marker and then a neat turn and a fine drive past Richard Hayward 1-0 E's. ( P B T sub John Christian off for James Dickie) A good chance for Andy Keepence but he headed Daniel Talbot's cross over the bar. It was Keepence again from another Talbot cross and this time he did find the net but a linesman raised his flag and Referee Mr Forrester consulted with him and the goal was ruled out for offside . Dean Gilbert was booked for a late challenge (E's sub Dean Thomas off for Marlon Stuart ) One final chance for E's but Neil Hughes rolled it inches wide .

Potters Bar 1 Richard Hayward 2 Andy Keepence 3 Sam Ledger 4 Michael Sharman 5 Michael Black 6 Daniel Talbot 7 Gabriel Fanibuyan 8 Nicky Winger 9 Richard Howard 10 Phil Turner 11 John Christian subs 12 James Dickie 14 Charlie Moxom 15 Michael Toner 16 Ian Reddington 17 Liam Farrell
