Witham 1-0 Enfield

Neil Hughes had E's first opening but scuffed his effort wide ,And on 12 mins Dean Thomas with an over head kick saw his effort also go wide .On 14 mins Owen Beale's corner was met by Oliver Stroud but this also went wide.On 19 mins Good work by Paul Oshin & Owen Beale set up Sherwin Stanley but again another chance went wide .With 22 mins gone Oliver Stroud's ball split Witham's defence and Neil Hughes again put wide . A good cross by Witham's Cody McDonald was very well claimed by Matt Mann ,Dean Gilbert did well to dispossess the same player moments later. And on 36 mins A loss of possession from Martin Young presented Kevin Hawes with a clean run on goal and a 1 on 1 with Matt Mann the Witham striker took his chance cooly by going round Matt Mann and easily tapping home .Kevin Hawes was booked for a needless hack on Dean Thomas who was also booked for reacting to it. H/T
2nd half
(James Hazell on for Sherwin Stanley) Witham were now packing their defence and E's were having problems getting anything on target (Dean Thomas was taken off for Marlon Stuart 55mins) On a rare Witham raid forward Dean Gilbert did well to block a shot from Kevin Hawes (Oliver Stroud off for Mark Whittington & Krzystof Karpowicz off for Tony Walkin for Witham) A shot by Witham's Steve Joyce was narrowly wide and Paul Oshin from distance put one straight straight at Matthew Cope in Witham's goal. An Outrageous dive by Tony Walkin didn't fool Mr Atkins into a penalty (He should have been booked for it) Wes Borghys tried his luck from distance but this flew wide as well. Neil Hughes had a shot deflected wide and it was just turning into one of thoses days for E's. (Lee Johnson on for Steve Joyce for Witham) Witham's Kaan Hawes was booked for a deliberate handball . A shot by Marlon Stuart went well off target and Martin Young was even more wayward soonafter last chance for Witham saw Lee Johnson well wide.

Yet another game thats got away that we should have won . We need a striker that can get them on target and make keepers work for a living instead of watching shots go wide.We havn't had that luxury since Danny Gabriel left us to be honest.
