Pictures from the game are now on the website. Great performance from all the players today, nice to see Neil Hughes score again, great goal from Elvis. Lets hope the confidence is back and we can get a result at Maldon on tuesday.

Waltham Abbey 1-3 Enfield

E's had the first opportunity as James Hazell's cross was met by Dave Bound but he couldn't direct his header on target, The Abbott's first raid was a good cross by Dan Webb but the ball was just deflected out of the path of the waiting Dan O'Sullivan .Abbey's Lee White wasted a freekick by blazing well over E's crossbar on 17 mins , Jon Stevenson did likewise for E's on 19 mins ,Owen Beale's corner was met by a James Hazell shot but it was blocked by a possee of Abbey defenders ,Elvis Balic shot wide of Abbey's goal on 23 mins . Dan O'Sullivan had his shot charged down and Dan Webb's freekick was well cleared out by Jon Stevenson whilst under pressure, Owen Beale wasted a good chance blazing well over after being tee'd up by Dave Bound . Abbey's Jordan Bostock made a timely interception by dispossessing Dave Bound after Neil Hughes looked to have put him clear .Abbey were finding E's offside trap very frustrating with Andy Purcell & Dan O'Sullivan being very Irate with the officials. On 36 mins the opening goal as Owen Beale's corner found Wes Borghys at the far side of Abbey's box and his powerful drive was deflected through several players against the inside of John Hickman's post before nestling into the opposite corner 1-0 E's.
Abbey's Andy Purcell tested the Referee's patience once too often and was booked for flattening Elvis Balic (It was to be significant moments later) Dan Webb got a shot away but E's debutant keeper Richard Wray was well behind it. Then Andy Purcell went too far and was sent off for dissent with a second yellow on 43 mins. Richard Wray was quickly off his line to deny Marc Sontag . H/T

2nd half Abbey were out of the blocks straight away ,Jon Stevenson was in the right place to clear a dangerous cross from Dan Webb ,Paul Oshin got Dave Bound away but he sliced his shot well off target. James Elmes put over an inch perfect cross for Marc Sontag but his header was straight at Richard Wray who grabbed it easily. Owen Beale's freekick found Wes Borghys but he put it wide. (Abbey sub Marc Sontag off for Lee Sontag) Lee White was put clear and he rounded Richard Wray but being forced to shoot from a tight angle Mark Whittington was on hand to clear the ball away.James Elmes gets a shot away and Richard Wray makes a good save. On 61 mins E's went 2-0 up with good work from Dave Bound and his cross found Neil Hughes who twisted round his Marker before firing past John Hickman .Abbey were doing their best to get back into the game and after a spell of momentum Dean Gilbert was seen by the referee to push Lee Sontag in the back and a penalty was awarded . Lee White made no mistake and Abbey were back in it 1-2 68 mins . Despite furthur momentum from Abbey E's were holding their own and on 77 mins a moment of pure class from Elvis Balic as he got clear down the edge of Abbey's box before unleashing a firm drive into the surprised John Hickman's bottom corner 3-1 E's.
(E's sub Dean Thomas on for Dave Bound) And it was Dean Thomas who could have made it a more emphatic scoreline but he spooned Neil Hughes's cross over Abbey's bar. Wes Borghys was pushed into the fence in the cemetary end corner and was off the field for a few mins but E's were still holding their own without him.(E's Sub Sam Judge on for James Hazell 81 mins )James Elmes freekick went narrowly wide 84 mins ,E's held on without any major problems in the last few mins. Those seats came from Maine Road Manchester, needs must at the time. 240 seats and a grading is better than no seats. They were all we could afford and we still got about another 100. If we get a sponsor to cover the terracing we might stick the rest behind the goal in front of the changing rooms.

Anyone out there? Please.....pretty please?
