Last season we had Dartford & Wivenhoe visit us in the last two matches of the season,With both going away with a point which wasn't enough for The Darts , Tomorrow we have Canvey Island who must win and hope the two above them slip up . Hopefully we'll have a few Canvey people show up and could be our best gate of the season . E's sometimes have a habit of upsetting the applecart . It could be Interesting .

Es did it again today ,I felt a bit sorry for canvey and well done to their supporters for being very gentlemanly under the circumstances, but boy did they miss some chances ,Dean Gilbert & Wes were outstanding as was Jamie Hazell .

Enfield 1-0 Canvey Island

As expected Canvey were straight out of the blocks but E's were coping reasonably well,A dipping shot by Chris Bourne flew over E's bar on 8 mins was the closest Canvey came early on , Sammy Judge for E's fed a good ball through to Neil Hughes but Ricky Wiseman did well to punch the ball clear on 12 mins. Owen Beale's corner was met by Darren Spinks but he was inches wide.Lee Jay for Canvey was even closer having his shot deflected a coat of paint wide on 16 mins. Richard Wray made a good claim as he held Richard Halle's firm header. Jamie Hazell did well to slip a ball in for Neil Hughes but Ricky Wiseman made a brilliant save to keep it out. Neil Hughes was then taken out by Kevin Dobinson but Mr Power only saw fit to ignore it. A good chance for Canvey as Nicky Rugg headed over the bar. Richard Halle was next to head wide soon after , Jamie Hazell then wriggled his way through Canvey's rearguard but his shot was blocked at the final moment. Dobinson then kicked out at Hughes and Mr Power only gave him a talking to . A freekick by Darren Spinks and Dean Gilbert was pushed off the ball again Mr Power let it go ??? But on the stroke of Half Time Jamie Hazell's persistant run put Neil Hughes clear and he shot across Wiseman into the bottom corner 1-0 E's H/T

2nd Half Neil Hughes was taken off due to a pulled hamstring and Dean Thomas replaced him, Canvey's Clyde Roberts let fly and Richard Wray was well equal to it. Kevin Dobinson again made a clumsy challenge on Paul Oshin and this time Mr Power did book him. A shot by Richard Halle went wide on 50 mins ,Owen Beale was booked for a challenge on Lee Jay. A great Chance for E's as Dean Thomas's attempted lob was blocked, the ball fell to Wes Borghys who also had his shot blocked and from the rebound Wes put it over the bar. Ryan Edgar had a good try saved by Richard Wray . Richard Halle's bullett freekick was headed clear by Wes Borghys (Almost took his head off ) A good chance for Lee Jay but frustratingly for him he put it wide .
A shot by Richard Halle was inches wide ,And Lee Jay again put wide from the edge of the box ,Canvey were closer still on 62 mins as Nicky Rugg's shot struck the outside of E's post. Dean Thomas then has two efforts blocked in quick succession . Another chance for Lee Jay and this time he scooped it an inch over the bar with his team mates with their heads in their hands in disbelief. Jon Stuart puts over a fine cross and Richard Halle heads a good looking chance wide.(E's sub Andrew Giles on for Sam Judge 70mins) A chance for E's as Owen Beale's corner was met by Paul Oshin but Ricky Wiseman was able to grab the ball .(Canvey sub Ian Luck on for Nick Rugg 74 mins) An escape for E's as Richard Wray called for a ball but the bounce deceived him and he dropped the ball but he did manage to grab it before a Canvey forward could react. (Canvey sub Danny Curran on for Kevin Dobinson) A shot by Richard Halle went wide on 77 mins. Andrew Giles was booked for taking down Jon Stuart . Chris Bourne's fine cross was met by Colin Wall but somehow he managed to head it over . Lee Jay's cross eluded all his team mates and Canvey's frustration was very evident . Their day was summed up even furthur as Ryan Edgar's freekick went well wide much to the dismay of his team mates ,Final chance for Canvey as Clyde Roberts blasts wide from 20 yards .Att 246

Enfield 1 Richard Wray 2 Mark Whittington 3 Darren Spinks 4 Paul Oshin 5 Dean Gilbert 6 Wes Borghys 7 Jamie Hazell 8 Elvis Balic 9 Neil Hughes 10 Sammy Judge 11 Owen Beale subs 12 Andrew Giles 14 Nick Turner 15 Dean Thomas 16 N/A 17 Lee Robinson

Apart from the obvious result at Brimsdown and elsewhere I had a nice day out.

I breifly spoke to your number 2 Mark Whittington? when they came out for the second half and he said your players were all remarking on how tired they were and how exhausting it was playing in that heat. In that respect I think the Canvey players can be proud of their effort as they never gave up working for that elusive goal. Well defended from an Enfield point of view.

I must also take my hat off to the officials and supporters of Enfield - it can't be easy making the trip to Ware for home games and it's a credit that it continues to compete.

Best of luck next season.

Cheers for the sporting comment Non E Mouse we have had two brilliantly contested matches against canvey this season both of them could have gone either way . I'm sure with Hornchurch and either Sudbury Harlow or the Townies out of the way you'll be in with a much better chance next time round ,looks like Northwood , Harrow & Brentwood could be Joining us next season .
