I have it on pretty good authority that it was supporter power (such as it is these days at The Loot Stadium) that swayed it. Setting aside the question of whether or not Mark Pye would strengthen the side, it is clear that purely from a reputation point of view, Mark Pye was not wanted by the fans because of the stigma that would have become attached to the club.<P>All credit to the fans, the Board and to Dave Anderson who was prepared to recognise that there are occasions when results on the pitch are less important than how those results are achieved.
