I'm glad to hear Trevor that you are not condoning the person who threw the can of cider into the group of players. However, I'm sure you will agree that there is a very good chance that this could happen again, with more serious consequences. Maybe it is about time that an example is made of these supposed supporters before things get out of control. The club is already starting to get a negative image due to these people and I wouldn't want them to further damage the clubs reputation. The last thing we need is for real fans to be driven away.

quote:
There will be no trouble at Aldershot just at like the previous 6 times we have played them

I think someone's got a short memory. Wasn't one of your lot ejected at Aldershot last season or was it the season before? And if I'm not mistaken wasn't the same person thrown out at the Trophy game at Chester last season, not forgetting his involvement in the recent incident at Kingstonian? Do yourselves a favour lads, unload him and his sidekick and perhaps we can get on with the football.

So much for the quality of the football!
As far as The Firm is concerned, I consider that there should be no recriminations for Chester and Aldershot last season, Bedford, Canvey or Kingstonian this year. Dealt with on the day, End of story.
Trev is right. You can't ban someone because they might be a member of a group of young, good-looking lads [don't forget, I'm an honorary member] who have a different approach to a night out than you.
However. Throwing anything on to the pitch takes it to a very different level. If a culprit is identified, and I can't think of an excuse, and if it were my decision, a one month ban would be an appropriate punishment and warning for a first offence. We don't need it, and we can't afford to be seen to be ignoring it.
As far as the language is concerned, good luck to The Chairman with that one. I have made the same point before. However, King Canute comes to mind.
Oh, by the way. The football was cr*p last night.

Saints fan:
We can't go banning people on the off chance that a incident may happen one day, how do you know that one day you won't just lose it at a game especially as you are a saints fan if you feel the passion you'll know how easy it is to feel the injustice soemtimes.
As for real fans, EFM attend virtally every game and create atmosphere, people who tag onto the saints will do it because of the atmosphere not to stand in silence like most do.
I think you'll find EFM have attracted more supporters than you think!

I would just like to point out that the EFM member involved in the can incident has accepted a one month ban from City games commencing on June 1st.

I hardly think this is a joking matter. A ban for the individual concerned would be a good thing (I'm sure people know who he is! or maybe he could come forward of his own accord.), and should help to avoid a repetition of this incident if people are fully aware of the consequences.
I agree that the passion of a game can at times be very intense, but there is no excuse for throwing things onto the pitch endangering both players and officials safety. I would suggest that you should be able to exercise a bit more self control.

The supporter who threw the can has been coming to the club for over ten years and has never done anything like that before.
Reading his comments, he appears to be genuinely sorry for a stupid act in the heat of the moment. In these circumstances, a ban seems unneccesary.

Although not at the game i beleive i know the culprit ( a cider can! what a give away.)firstly the can would have been empty,no way would he waste good scrumpy. I know what his aim is like, having seen his efforts at scoring goals (hes more likely to hit the corner flag than the goal) it is unlikely the can would get anywhere near his target and the city fans were the only ones in any real danger.
