35km - Contador is eighth on GC at 3:10 so Rasmussen's yellow jersey is safe. He could move into the top three however.

well we have Soler, 58 seconds in the lead

10k to go....

its really exciting cos we have poursuivants...Popovych and Contador chasing him down...

Then 1’18" to the yellow jersey group -- Rasmussen, Valverde, Gutierrez, Astarloza and Kirchen in that....then a second group of poursuivants...

1’30" to Evans, Arroyo, Sastre, Moreau, Leipheimer, Cobo, Mayo and Kloden.…

then a group led by Vinikourov, with 17 riders in it

then the Peleton...then

right at the back !!!

some Attardes !!!

2km To Go For Soler...

Soler is 2km from the end of the stage. The road is about to rise again as it approaches the finish.…

Evans, Arroyo, Sastre, Moreau, Leipheimer, Mayo and Kloden have just caught Rasmussen, Valverde, Gutierrez, Astarloza, Kirchen, Contador and Popovych. There are now 14 men in pursuit of Soler

The rise to the finish is a steep one.

Soler has begun to climb and the 14 chasers are now 2km from the finish 50" behind...

He should hang on, but it could be tight, with the yellow jersey leading the chasing group !!

Rasmussen is now leading the pursuit of Soler. Evans is on his wheel and the pace is too much for Moreau who has failed to stay in touch with the yellow jersey’s group.…

Still 30 seconds in front though....

Soler wins, giving the wildcard team a victory in the Tour de France. Winner by 38 secs.

Seven years since Santiago Botero’s landmark win in Briancon, Colombia is about to get another stage win.

Valverde 2nd
Evans 3rd

Rasmussen remains in Yellow Jersey

No problem Greg...looking forward today's stage, as we head into the end game...

It's looking more and more like Rasmussen's tour...

Tallard to Marseille today
Passing through Sisteron, Manosque and near La Clotat.

4 Spaniards in the top 10 at the moment...

A.Valverde (GCE) (The Green Bullet, from Murcia)
I.Mayo (SDV) Another basque cyclist, with 1 stage win behind him and was 2nd in stage 8 this year.
A.Contador (DSC) (The Accountant) born in Madrid....25th in the 2005 tour
C.Sastre (CSC)born in Madrid too..an impressive 8th in 2004 and 4th in last year's tour....

If not Rasmussen, then one of these looks likely to take the tour...all seeking to be the first "Spanish" winner since Miguel Indurain in 1995.

I used the ""'s as Indurain of course, like Mayo, is a Basque native, rather than a Spaniard....

GRIVKO is currently 12th in the young rider category, so a 10 minute gain would be useful for him !!!

Alberto CONTADOR leads this cat. by 3 mins from Linus GERDEMANN and Juan SOLER HERNANDEZ, yesterdays big winner
