60km - Moreau is now 1:15 behind and Astana have achieved their aim of moving Andreas Kloden up a position on the "virtual" GC. The indirect result of their work is that the leading five are only 2:30 ahead.

55km - Alexandre Vinokourov was described as being only 80% fit this morning by his sport director Adriano Baffi and he has just signalled to his Astana team-mates to ease the pace.

45km - The gap from the leading five to the peloton is 1:07 with the Moreau group now three minutes back. He is losing a pack of time with Barloworld now doing the damage.

38km - It's a crazy stage - Astana, Barloworld and Quickstep are still riding at a high tempo and the break that was eight minutes ahead not long on has been absorbed.

35km - Moreau's group have reduced the gap to 1:38. Barloworld, Quickstep and Astana continue to do the work.

28km - 1:44 is the gap back to Moreau's group as Serguei Ivanov does a truck load of work for Astana on the front. This will be the quickest stage of the tour so far.

20km - The gap is 2:03 and Moreau is in danger of dropping out of the top ten on GC. The next highest Frenchman is Sylvain Chavanel who is way down in 33rd. The hosts have not had a man on the podium since Richard Virenque in 1997.

10km - The fastest stage before today was from Laval to Blois in 1999 when Mario Cipollini won in 50.355km/h. That record is in danger. 2:35 separates the two pelotons with the second one also including Erik Zabel. Barloworld are maintaining the pace and they will fancy the chances of their man Robbie Hunter in the sprint.

5km - 2:44 is the difference - Boonen, Hushovd and Hunter will be licking their lips in anticipation of a sprint finish.

Tour Leader in Drugs dispute !!

http://news.bbc.co.u...ing/6907568.stm

Tour de France leader Michael Rasmussen has been dropped by Denmark's cycling team in a row over drug testing.
The Danish Cycling Union claims he had three warnings over failing to inform doping authorities of his whereabouts.

"It has been decided that Michael will no longer be part of the national team," said Jesper Worre, the director of the Danish Cycling Union.

Rasmussen, 33, claimed he had only received one warning and blamed the row on an "administrative mistake".
