Vinikourov...out

drugs cheat...booooo

http://uk.eurosport....rugs-shame.html

Alexandre Vinokourov has tested positive for illegal doping, and his Astana team have withdrawn from the Tour de France.

Astana revealed that their Kazakh leader failed a test after winning Saturday's time trial in Albi.

Vinokourov's blood sample was analysed at Châtenay-Malabry and reportedly showed two different types of red blood cells, showing the rider had received a transfusion shortly before the start of the stage.

It's already been refunded, therefore he must have withdrawn last night.

No, his team withdrew.... but to have my cash back in my hills account today, he must have resigned from the race yesterday.

I'll think you'll find that if a team withdraws from the tour the riders can still race..... it's up to the individual to resign. Hence why some are still classified at today's start.

The lead group is four men:
Sastre
Verdugo
Soler and
Mayo.

They are 25km from the end of the 16th stage and 1 min in the lead....

Rasmussen's team are dominant...

Westy seems to have given up, which is ironic as the tour had its biggest shock yesterday...

RASMUSSEN OUT !
He lied to his team about whgere he has be jetting off to and they dropped him

CONFIDIS TEAM OUT !
Cristian Moreni failed a test and they pulled their whole team, inc. Bradley Wiggins....

bad bad times for Le tour, but it's good in a way that teams are acting like this....showing up the selfish drug cheats and making them responsible for their whole team....

Stage 17 today (4 to go, one of which is a time trial)

Leaders...

1. CONTADOR Alberto 2 mins clear of
2. EVANS Cadel 1 min clear of
3. LEIPHEIMER Levi 4 mins clear of
4. SASTRE Carlos then
5. ZUBELDIA Haimar
6. VALVERDE Alejandro 4 mins behind Zubeldia

It's a farce.... although Evans is a good time trialist, so should take some beating.... unless he's on the substance of course!!!!

The riders are underway on the artificial start to the race with a huge cloud hanging over the peloton after the news that Michael Rasmussen has been thrown out of the Rabobank team and the race.

12:00 - There is no yellow jersey in the peloton today, though Alberto Contador is now at the head of the general classification, 1'53" ahead of Predictor-Lotto's Cadel Evans.

12:00 - The official start for the stage is given at 12:00 BST. 142 riders are still in the race. The seven remaining members of the Cofidis team (Bradley Wiggins, Staf Schierlinkx, Sylvain Chavanel, Stephane Augé, Cristian Moreni, Nick Nuyens and Rik Verbrugghe) are not at the start, nor is Michael Rasmussen.

188km - Xavier Florencio attacks immediately following the start of the stage, and is folowed by Mickaël Delage (FdJ)...though the peloton reels them back in immediately.
