It looks as though Ben Sedgemore is joining Chelmsford City. I gather he plays in midfield but was wondering what sort of midfielder he is. For example, is a "hard man" type of defensive ball-winner or is he more creative, playing just behind the front two. Thanks.

They really are the Chelsea of non league, no shame, no culture and no success!!!

Buy the players we developed, somebody oughta tell em passion is not for sale!!!

A club that size will have succcess but they will need to develop it not buy it!

I would never describe Sedgemore as a hard man but he certainly won`t shirk a tackle, very at good picking out a runner with an acurate pass. More of a holding midfield player who also can play centre-back if required.

Very rarely puts a foot wrong and does everything asked of him without needing him to excel at any one thing.

I will always hold out hope that he returns to Canvey as a player/coach.

Many thanks for the information. Paula, there is something in what you say which is why Jeff has added Ben, John Keeling, Andy Duncan (Cambridge U's skipper,) Lee Protheroe and two other players to the squad.

If Canvey Old Boys don't win promotion this year surly Mr Kings time in charge could be under serious threat, Chelmo must be paying out some serious cash to keep such an experienced and talented squad. You do wonder how Chelmsford afford the wages?!! smile

Sedgemore is a good player and a nice bloke, im just wondering how motivate the likes of sedgey and Jon Keeling will be when they have to go to East Thurrock on a cold Tuesday night!

Sedgemore and Keeling could certainly still cut it at Conference level.
