Shame if he is going to Chelmo. I expect he would have got a warm welcome if he had turned out for Maldon next Tuesday night!!

It is at the moment with the results they have been getting.

It does sound like he is the player they are talking about but after turning down Chelmsford before he went to Maldon it seems a strange choice especially as he`s not in the greatest of form at the moment.

Wonder if he and Kingy will still see eye to eye after Ollie told him he would sign a new contract for Canvey and then went and signed for Stevenage the next day.

"Ryman League Division One North club Maldon Town has officially announced that they have released Ollie Berquez so that he could re-sign for ambitious Premier Division neighbours Chelmsford City for an undisclosed fee.

Berquez (pictured) joined Maldon as player-coach last May after a spell with Blue Square Premier side Woking.

He played under Chelmsford boss Jeff King at Canvey Island for three years and the 27-year-old has also turned out for Heybridge Swifts, St Albans City, Billericay Town, Braintree Town, Dagenham & Redbridge, Stevenage Borough and Woking and returns to City for a third time.

Maldon hoped to be able to announce that two further players were going to sign for the club and add to the already strong squad, but both players have asked for time to make their final decision."
